I normally post in the Sprint forum, but I thought this would be a more appropriate place for this post.
I have read numerous horror stories about the Triumph dealer network. Here's on you might like.
I decided to have my brakes replaced on my '02 Sprint RS. I have just had the bike for about 4000 miles and am getting ready for a trip and I figured it would be the smart thing to do. I decided to call the local dealer in Santa Rosa, CA (rather hesitantly mind you) and he said the best he can do in get me in in about a week, but first he needed to check to see if he has the pads in stock. I'm thinking, are they that special (or is my bike that old) that a Triumph dealer may not even stock brake pads? About 10 minutes later, parts got on the phone and told me I was in luck, they had the pads in stock. This was quite an accomplishment because I have gone to that same dealer about 6-7 times looking for parts and they always had to order them. ie touch-up paint, owners manual, bar-ends misc plastic etc. The only problem was that I plan on leaving before the appointment date.
I call dealer #2 in San Rafael, CA. The guy that answers the phone puts me on hold immediately. Gets back in a couple of minutes asks my name and what I need. I tell him, he says he has to check stock. 5 Minutes later he gets back on the phone and asks if he can help me, I tell him what I need and that he was checking stock for the break pads, he again asks my name, year and model of my bike and then asks my name again (3rd time) Granted, he doesn't know me but my name is Bob, how hard is that? Another 5 minutes go by he comes back to the phone, asks if he can help me, I repeat my question, ' how soon can you do a brake job on my bike and do you have the pads in stock'. "Oh right" he says, nope, don't have 'em but we can order them. No thanks I say.
Dealer #3 Munroe Motors in San Francisco. Greg answers, I ask my question, tell him I need it done asap he says the pads are in stock, gives me a price and suggests I call back the next day (today) at about 11 to see if there is a cancellation. OK this is something. So I decided to take a ride up to Marin County just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, get off 101 on my way to Stinson Beach. I kinda figure that if they can't get me in, at least I can go for a ride along the coast. If they can get me in, then I'm about halfway there. Its 20 minutes to 11 when I get off 101, call Munroe Motors. Greg answers, all I have to say is that he suggested I call back this AM and he knows my name year make and model of my bike, and what I need done. He tells me to drop my bike off and they will have it done by closing. That's when I tell him I am from Sonoma (one hour away) and he says to bring it in and they will get it done asap. Twenty minutes later I show up at the dealer, go to service and he is ready for me. Takes all my info, then I ask him if he can to the Michelin 2CT recall, checks with parts, no problem, checks the computer, there are two Triumph recalls that need to be done, no problem. BTW, I only need rear pads the front are ok. Just cut the cost by 60%. It took a little longer then we first thought because of the laundry list of work that needed to be done, but all in all this was the absolute best experience at a Triumph dealer I have ever had! All the people that worked there were helpful and friendly, the girl that works in parts is very attractive and I would definately recommend this dealer to anyone that rides a Triumph, MV Agusta, Benelli or just about anything. Really top notch people and service.
THANK YOU MUNROE MOTORS you have restored my faith in Triumph dealers, well actually you have restored my faith that there is at least one Triumph dealer I enjoy doing business with.
