So I just traded my TT600 for a Sprint ST. The bike has a little over 4000 miles. The problem I have is that once the bike has begun to warm up, the engine will try to die as I pull in the clutch. The engine, if I don't blip the throttle, will die at stop signs or even on a slow gear shift as I come to a stop.

Has anyone experienced this?

I noticed that the temp guage reads just above the low temp even when the bike has been running for some time, would a faulty thermostat cause this?

Cheers

Paul

Fuel idle trim is probably set too low. That leans it waaaay out at idle. Did you just get it back from a servicing? Have them reset the CO and it should take care of the problem.

The bike has not been to the dealer service as far as I know. Having read some of the other fault postings, I think maybe it is the zero throttle position sensing by the computer. Yesterday I tried the start and warm up proceedure twice so it requires on more start (tonight).

The problem started when I bought the bike, I should have returned right away to the dealer but had to travel, now it's been a month.

If it has been doing that for a while, then three heat cycles won't work. Do you have a TuneBoy cable? You can read fault codes, etc. You can also reset the fuel idle trim and the throttle position sensor. I don't know why your bike is running very cool unless there is some kind of electronic fault that is causing both problems.

easywriter,

Are you perchance touching the throttle at all on startup? Don't if you are. Whatever position you have the throttle in at start will be remembered as "0" throttle and it won't run at a throttle position less than that.

Just a thought,

Don

I think that was it. What a wierd and dangerous thing to do. As I was coming to a halt sign my rear wheel locked up because the engine stalled as I shifted. So, I've done the three cycle start/warm up sequence and now the bike will idle. Hands OFF that throttle at startup. very un-Triumph like

Well the bike is still stalling, so where can I get a tuneboy cable?
