New Tourer?
I picked up a rumour somewhere that says Triumph will introduce a full-on touring bike again in the coming year. Anybody hear anything? It would be about time and although they are good the Trophys are getting long in the tooth. If there were any NOS around it'd be a good buy but I haven't seen any and if I can avoid buying a new Beemer RT I'd like to.

> I picked up a rumour...
I hope it's not antibiotic-resistant by now. It comes around once or twice every year like a bad flu to infect the vulnerable, and each time it has eventually died out without mutating into reality yet.
If the real thing doesn't materialize soon, maybe MCN will have to invent a new rumour to tantalize the masses with next year. You may not have heard it there, but it's one they trot out annually. This one has been their old reliable, their stock in trade, their sure-fire circulation booster, ever since the Rocket's introduction in 2004. Sooner or later their readers are going to start thinking of the boy who cried tourer, and then someday Triumph may pounce on us with the real thing.
I agree that it's about time. But if they do it this year, no one is really going to know any facts until the dealers' convention. Until then, it'll all be "well, I heard this or that."

Road Bike magazine has an interview with Mark Kennedy, (Triumph America CEO) on page 58. And he confirms two new Triumphs for next year. One will apparently be somewhere in between the speedmaster, and the Rocket 3. It Could be a tourer.

Just posted about that new Tourer in BHO http://www.triumphrat.net/showpost.p...2&postcount=13 - based on the Rocket III.
It's got nice hard cases, but it's hardly a Trophy replacement.

This thing would knock that hideous, new Victory Tourer into the weeds! Being Rocket-based, I guess the new bike would claim the Gold Wing's touring heavyweight title, too. I hope it sees production: I'd like to see them shake up the market a bit...

Well, that one's hardly a new bike or an all-out tourer; pretty much just the Rocket with different wheels and decent luggage for a change. A significant improvement for touring, but nothing terribly new. As you say, not a replacement for the Trophy, by any means.
The one in the picture above is just a reworked artist's concept of the Windjammer-looking ...thing... that was making the rounds a couple years back, updated in front to resemble Triumph's recent in-house styling exercises.

Hey John,
Sorry it was not what you were looking for. I'll try harder next time.

If they actually would reveal whether or not something like this is coming, I might wait for it and not buy a Nomad...
