i just got done with a horrible experience with Avi at gold coast. i went there looking for an 07 bonnie black and they had a demo there with 28 miles and a tach and knee pads for sale. if i wanted the bike they said they would throw in the two parts and the labor for anything else i wanted (pipes) for free. told him i would call him back in a couple days because he refused to sweeten the deal. he wouldn't come off the msrp for this "new" bike and he basically charged me for the parts anyways. i decided to buy the bike anyways because he was offering me a decent deal on my trade in. i called him back and told him i wanted the bike and asked if he needed some sort of deposit to hold it. i offered to give him a credit card deposit but he said he didn't need it. he would hold the bike for me. so i told him i would stop by in a couple of days to finalize the deal. when i went to gold coast to purchase the bike, avi didn't look happy to see me. didn't greet me or acknowledge me, even though i was the only customer in the store because it was pouring rain that day. he waits until i am standing right in front of him before he greets me. we proceed to his desk and he asks my why i am there. i tell him i am there to finalize the deal. he receives a phone call and waves me away telling me he has to take it. 20 minutes later, he finally has time to tell me that someone else sold the bike. he then proceeds to tell me that the price he offered me on my trade in was too high. and that on the parts i wanted (fork gaitors), he would have to charge me labor. i thought dealers usually wait until they have your money before their customer service goes out the window. i guess gold coast doesn't need the business. needless to say, i will not be purchasing my bb, or anything else for that matter from gold coast.

Buddha,
Zip on down to Freehold Honda/Triumph. They seem to take selling bikes seriously and honestly.

Sounds like that guy has a history of selling cars and / or practicing law. What a schmuck. I would contact the regional rep so they/he would get a negative remark.
Some salesman tend to act like that when you have hit the right price - right on the head.
My brother and I once got kicked out of a car dealership. As they were kicking us out we were getting back to my car and all the salesman were giving us the finger and yelling profanities at us. That was after the sales manager told me to F*** Off at the top of his lungs in the presence of about 20 other prospective buyers (some of them mothers and young children) Everyone of those other people looking at cars left right after we did. Couple months later that dealership was raided by the FBI for funnelling money to suspected terrorists - somehow. It made the news and it made GM look bad and GM revoked their contract.

I bought my 1st bike (The Legend) from GoldCoast and maybe because it was january 7, 2003 the deal went very smoothly. I know a few people who have bought from them and the buying experience was positive for all of them.
That being said thier service/parts dept is a total nightmare.
I could tell half a dozen horror stories from people I actually ride with who tried to get decent service from GoldCoast (myself included)
As others have suggested try Freehold or Rockwell cycles in Ft Montgomery.

I'd say the same thing about their service department as well. I brought in a 97 T-Bird that hadn't run in a couple of years, and they did everything that they needed to do to get her back on the road.
Prices were reasonable, and delivery time as promised. I only had to wait a couple of days to get an appt (granted it was November).
I actually just called the Triumph dealer in NYC to make an appointment for service - he said that I wouldn't be able to get in for over 6 weeks! That's absurd.
If I lived closer to Freehold - and could get a NYC inspection there - I would have gone right back there

i just got back from rockwell cycles in ft montgomery. marian was a pleasure to deal with. they had a bonneville black in stock. we quickly agreed to a price and a couple of extras and the deal was done. i would highly recommend them if you are looking to buy a motorcycle (they even have an inhouse dyno). total opposite of goldcoast. for those in the area, it's not that far from nyc, and is actually a pleasant drive up. when i pick up my bike next saturday, i plan on riding the twisties around bear mountain before heading home. thanks for the recommendations. if i'm ever in the neighborhood, i will definitely check out freehold honda/triumph.

I know what you mean. I was up there last summer looking at some bikes for my girlfriend. Avi is a very standoffish sorta guy but was generall friendly. I'm sure he has a differently cultural background and that probably accounts for him coming off that way. IMO they operate pretty much like every other bike shop in the NY metro area. The dont have time for anyone unless u are paying MSRP and have the cash in your pocket. I've been in much worse yamaha/kawi dealerships in NYC that wont even assist you when you are standing at the counter.

I have never, ever, heard a good thing said about Gold Coast. Well, I've never heard of them murdering a prospective buyer... but that's it.
Talking about area dealers I am a huge fan of Trebour Motorcyles. They're ahaul from NYC (Ledgewood, NJ) but their service is top notch and they run a truck a few times a week to and from NYC to pick up/drop off bikes. Also an easy get-to by train.
Ducati Soho just picked up the Triumph line as well. I don't know anything about their service, though I expect it would be pricey but there's a salesman working there, Bill, really straight guy. Consumate salesman, but loves bikes and loves riding.
Best of luck.

Bill a straight guy? Ah ah. Read my post about this dealer, and good luck to get a good deal with him.

Careful with Rockwell Cycles, I bought an 06 Sprint from them and have to use a bulldozer to have them resolve new bike defects...here I am a year later using a bigger bulldozer for the same issue. He has an extreme lack of customer service skills,
and I will never buy a bike from them again, as a matter of fact, after dealing with them, I will probably only buy used Triumphs from e-bay. He appears as if he gets penalized for warranty claims.
