Hi everyone
I seriously need advice on a matter with "Bikers Edge" a Triumph Motorcycle dealership in Wichita Ks, where I took my 98 sprint sport to be serviced.

The problem is this: The 9th of Aug, I called them to schedule an appointment for the carbs to be cleaned and synched, and new fork seals installed.
They said bring it in No Problem
So I did, on Aug 11th.
2 weeks later i called them, and they told me they needed to order seal kits for the carbs, and they would arrive in a week.
A week later i called , and they told me the parts were in and it would be done in a week.
A week later i called , and they told me it needed a seal for the fuel valve and thats all that was left that needed to be done and the part would be in,in a week.
I waited 2 weeks for them to call and finally called again and was told the gaskets were leaking on the float bowl of one of the carbs and a diafram was melted due to backfiring and the part would be in in a week (didn't they replace this already?)
so i waited another 2 weeks and called again couldn't get a hold of service manager,,,,
3 days of this went by and finally got to talk to the service manaer. he tried another story of wrong parts or something to that effect . Finally with a little coaxing , he admitted he didnt have a triumph mechanic and hadn't had one since late july. so i told him i was going to pick up the bike
a day later HE CALLED ME(first call from them so far) and he convinced me that if i gave him 2 more weeks he would guarantee it would be fixed- and- he would only charge me for parts , no labor
i took that offer
now its been 2 weeks and i call him ,,,cant get ahold of him,,,

called him again today and finally got to talk to him,,,

he says: yea come get it , its took apart,,, but ,,, we will try to box all the parts up as best we can. we got a few new mechanics but none of them are qualified to service triumphs we can do it someday but i cant tell you when exactly so just come get it

I rode this bike up to wichita (135 miles away) to drop it off now its in pieces at a triumph dealership what do i do? :???: Or What can i do to this place?

I'd talk to the owner and give him a deadline to rectify the solution. Document everything you have been told and everything you agree to if that happens. If that does not work report them to the BBB. If that does not work take them to court, they misled you to believe they were fixing your bike but fessed up that they do not have someone qualified to repair it. So someone unqualified disassembled your bike and they can't get it back together. Sounds like something a certain Tulsa dealer would do. When this is resolved I'd take it to either OKC or El Dorado, MO. I would not let the Wichita dealer work on it for sure.

Hope it works out for you.

I'd start by filing detailed complaints with the Wichita Better Business Bureau and the Kansas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. The BBB will act faster and can often resolve these situations but the AG's office will have shoddy businesses snapping to attention a bit more crisply. You should also send copies of the complaints and a detailed explanation of the situation to Triumph in both Georgia and at the home office in the UK asking them to reconsider maintaining Biker's Edge as a dealer.

I'll second VR6's suggestion of making the trek over to El Dorado Springs, MO, you can see my thoughts about them in a post just below this one. And I'll add that a week after I picked my bike up Randy, the owner, called me to see if everything was OK and remind me to bring it right back over if I had any problems at all. Given that there wasn't even a problem that's, again, above and beyond the call.

I filed a complaint with BBB on a certain Tulsa dealer to no avail. The dealer did not bother to answer the BBB. They have an unresolved dispute listed on the BBB website, I think it stays for 2 years. It carries more weight if they are a member. Good luck.

2 months? Just drive up there and haul your bike home. The carbs and forks won't be any problem for any Hon/Kaw/Suz/Yam mechanic. Find a dealer for one of those brands with a good reputation and take your bike there. Sometimes non-franchised shops have the best mechanics. Ask around locally.
If this or any other dealer can't hire and retain a mechanic able to take care of these relatively simple jobs they are about to go out of business.

It actually carries less weight if they are a BBB member because the BBB will support their members over the public. A few years ago I complained to the BBB about Best Buy ripping me off over a non-motorcycle related transaction where they charged me for something I neither ordered nor received. The BBB worked with Best Buy and myself, decided I should remain ripped off, closed their books and told me to stop complaining. I then took Best Buy to small claims court, easily beat them there and finally got my money back. I dropped the BBB a note to let them know Best Buy was wrong, but they never responded.

In most states it's pretty fast, easy and inexpensive to just take the rascals to small claims court and forget the BBB. ( In California, the court date was only about a month after filing.) Keep good records of all your direct and indirect (like hauling your bike home) costs and present them to the judge. Don't forget to add court costs. I have done it several times.

This is screwed... Triumphs are not technically different than any other bike. If those mechanics can't fix your bike, they can't fix anything.

I am curious as to why if you live in Oklahoma, you would not take your bike to one of the dealers there?????? Why go all the way to Wichita when there are two dealers closer?????

Nothing you are describing sounds like any experience I have had at Bikers Edge. I have three Bonnies and have ALL my service work done there. They have been nothing but extremely professional and ALWAYS deliver the work on time if not sooner. They have been the greatest to work with.

My next bike will be definitely purchased and serviced at Bikers Edge. I don't care if I move, they have won my loyalty as a customer. All of the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly

This isn't the first time I've heard horror stories of service there.

A few of the people there are friendly and helpful but most don't care about you unless you ride some sort of Harley.
