Y'all,
Am getting ready to purchase another bike - selling my Harley's and Valk. Looking at new Triumphs; Rocket gives me a tourer, but I like the more classic look of the America or Speedmaster. They seem underpowered for cross-country and was thinking of getting the 904 kit on it - any idea of the increase in horses? Looking to get it in the thruxton range...

Gunfighter, it might depend on a few factors, most important how much of a load you'll be carrying and your riding style.

I find the almost-stock Speedmaster has enough power to carry me & my wife (total weight about 350 lbs - you figger out the split :-D ) plus luggage on short overnight trips.

If you need to carry more weight or go really fast for a really long distance it may not be enough for you if you're used to a bigger bike. We find it quite comfortable although if you're going to carry a passenger you'll want the touring seat.

If you plan to ride solo, I bet you'll be OK with either bike.

Have you considered a test ride?

silverado is right. the Speedmaster has enough power. I to like the classic look of the speedmaster, but alas I went with the rocket. I am hoping to run across an older speedmaster and keep as a second. they are nice looking bikes.

Thanks, Gents...
Went ahead and got the SM...from another on the site - spot on I think this will do fine but agree with Lee; may get a Rocket in the future (unless rumors of new Trumpet is true???). Real pleased with it...Valk is fun - but time to get down on # bikes; figure sell the HD and the Valk and get a Rocket - a method to my madness, yes????
FYI will be selling the Valk for 6K (52K miles, mustang seat in excellent condition...if anyone looking for a reasonable classic power cruiser...
