Hello everyone. First time poster, long time lurker.

I am thinking of purchasing a new Sprint and I am looking for a dealer. I am a few miles from the Old Town shop and they have a red 06 ABS I have been eyeing. I believe they are owned by Motoplex of Joliet where I test rode the Sprint last summer. They seem like good people but I have heard from more than one source that their service department may be a bit lacking. What are your experiences and opinions regarding Chicagoland Triumph dealers? Thanks in advance for you replies.

You are correct about Old Town and Motoplex of Joliet being linked. There are nice people at both shops. I do not believe that they have a service department at the Old Town facility. I believe that they ship all the cycles to Joliet to be worked on. I do not know much about their service department but I do know that they seem to be more knowledgeable about the Victory and custom cycles they carry than The Triumph line.
I swear by MCC (Motor Cycle Center) in Villa Park. They are family owned and have been outstanding for sales and service on my Sprint. Check them out before you go with Old Town. If Old Town is the best deal for the bike you may want to check them out for service. Good Luck

I would second that motion twords MCC. I actually mistakenly bought my bike from Joliet, and will never step foot into their stores again. Terrible service and setup.

Just picked up a Speedmaster from the Old Town shop two weeks ago. Yes, thy are affiliated with two Moto Plex stores - one in Joliet and one in South Chicago. The Old Town store is sort of a boutique store - no service area or mechanics, etc. Just a store front and a few bikes.

Worst setup job I have ever seen.

They didn't even have a ramp to load it into my truck, so I flagged down a couple guys doing a re-hab job in the area and they showed up with a solid-core door. Even then it DID NOT go smoothly.

I got some of the paperwork and was told that they would "overnight" the rest. Also, I was to get $500 worth of free accessories.

It's two weeks later and neither the accessories nor the manufacturer's certificate of origin have shown up. Called them three times...... Each time I was promised that the "stuff" would be sent right out.

Still waiting.

Got the bike home and had to go over it with a torque wrench. I am simply amazed.

I admit it - I'm stupid. I even drove 350 miles to get this bike.

So far Motoplex has screwed me around as well. I went to get my bike 3/18. I called a few days previous so they could have it ready. I show up round noon, ready to ride the fifty+ miles home. The salesman needs to replace the battery so he can start it. He then takes it out for gas. All that took about an hour and a half. so I hop on I start the long trek down cold ass lake shore drive. I take the north ave. ramp and notice that my new purchase turns like a semi. I limp to the next gas station, check the tires. The front was about 9lbs and the rear about 15lbs. As I recall the frame says 32/and 38 respectively. So I call, and apparently I get a free t-shirt when I go back for my 500 mile service. Needless to say, I will probably head up to villa park when the time comes.

Bought my bike from Motoplex in Joliet. They delivered it to my house which was cool, but they didn't give me an owner's manual, (still don't have it), forgot to order my helmet, and get this, I was riding around today, and with a whole 23 miles on the odo, I had to switch the fuel to reserve! I know gas prices are a little crazy, but that's ridiculous! Needless to say, I will be going to MCC for the 500 mi. service.

How long did it take for the MCO to get to you?

I bout a bike a little over a week ago and I still haven't seen teh MCO as of yet (from teh Olde Town location).

I'm calling on Monday and if they still have it here, I will drive my ass to Jolliet and pick it up, but they will have hell to pay!
