I mostly agree with you on those points. Holeshot are a bunch of friendly guys, but I prefer to get any service work done by AMPS. Not that Holeshot are lacking in the service dept, but more to do with the fact that AMPS have proven themselves in the customer service dept.I took my bike to Holeshot for its 800 km service. The bike had a pretty gnarly backfire on the over run, which the dealer I bought the bike from (not Holeshot)couldn't get rid of. This is after fitting some Custom Chambers mufflers for me as part of the cash purchase deal. I got the bike back promptly, and at a reasonable cost, but still backfiring. To be fair, I didn't mention it when I dropped the bike off. In the end I found the problem myself. The AI hose which runs from the LH intake manifold to the reed valve under the tank was not connected, meaning there was a big gulp of air ingested on the over run. No drama.
I wasn't too sure what the service would be like at AMPS, what with them being a big time Harley dealer and all, but I bought a set of Spidi On Road riding gears. Really splahed out, they were the dearest set in the range at NZ $1700, but I figured "What the hey" I deserve it. Well, the jacket held up, but the trousers started coming apart at some of the seams. So off to AMPS I go and tell them my tale of woe. Lou takes the trou off my hands and says they will get them repaired at no cost by the authorised repairer ASAP. Sure enough, he was true to his word. Not long after the same thing started happening, so we repeat the repair deal. So far so good. The NEXT time it happened, I was given a new set of trousers, no questions asked, and all apologies given freely.
Well, what do you know, the next set start doing the same thing. So I'm off to nip it in the bud, and ask for my money back. Lou asks me if I would like to try some comparable trousers as an alternative, which we did, but to no avail as I am too much of a fat b**tard. LOL. Now here's where they REALLY shine. I had a sinking feeling that I had purchased a size or two too small. I was almost expecting them to say "Well, you bought 'em too small, so hard luck.", but instead Lou asks me if they could get the next two sizes sent to the shop so I could try them on. To which I of course said yes.
I guess I'm dribbling on a bit, but the upshot is that I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend AMPS, or even Holeshot to any Kiwis out there looking to but a Triumph.
