I always thought that the X-75 Hurricane, was one of the most beautiful motor cycles that Triumph had designed. I think with the success of the Bonneville, Thruxton and the new Bonnie Scrambler, a rebirth of the X-75 Hurricane with the new mechanics of the 675 would make a nice addition to the Triumph Motor Cycle line. A naked or standard bike with the one piece tank seat combination and three exhaust on one side would have me making an order for one with the local dealer. The new 675 is just the foundation for a new X-675 Hurricane If you have any pull with the design department please forward my suggestion.
Thanks
Terry Potter

I think it was one of the most beatiful motorcycles produced by anyone, period. Even more remarkable when you consider it is over 30 years old. The body was a work of art.

True No-one in England at that time would have come up with anything so radical. What is amazing is that it ever made it past the management and into production.

Did they know about it? I have read that they didn't until it was too late!

It was, Dazco, but I think it was only produced for a year. I think they were all built in '73, although some were marked as '72-built to get around US emissions laws. (no doubt someone will put me right about this!! )
There were also a few interesting prototypes made that somehow sneaked out of the factory. Where I grew up in England, there was often a Bonneville-engined Hurricane parked outside my local pub. The paint scheme was Burgundy and cream, rather than the red and yellow of the X75. I imagine it would be worth a small fortune now.

Terry-
I have no pull; but that is absolutely brilliant! Hat's off to you, mate.

Terry,
Great idea! Maybe your Potter heritage could conjure up a new Triumph reality. (Sorry, but it was just waiting to happen.)

Check out Vetter's website to see what he's up to these days. It's a pretty interesting site with some good pics of the Hurricane and a retro looking scooter with tailfins and portholes.
