Thumbs up Sacramento/Stockton California Triumph Shops? Which one?

Would like some sincere info since I might need my 1965 650 TT Special power unit gone through at a later date if anybody in the Stockton or Sacramento area has some great advise on who the best might be when it comes to vintage rebuilds and at a decent cost too. Even my builder said this was a great idea to check into.

I also have an extra 1965 T120R power unit I am looking at rebuilding and gone through as well.

Thank you in advance.

Well to update my own thread so other new members like myself might want this info:

http://www.aspowersports.com/index.htm

http://www.ranchomotorcycle.com/

http://triumph.cyclespecialties.com/home_triumph.asp

Hopefully some members will add more links and/or info if they know ANY non dealerships type shops specializing in vintage Triumphs and yes there is always any internet search engine to look on.

Hi Chuck, I don't ride a vintage Triumph so I can't comment on how good the local shops are with them, but I've been posting my experience with having my modern Triumph serviced at two of the local shops. Here are the link:

For non-warranty work, I like to bring my bike to Jeff in Davis. It's a small shop so there's no real website, but it's listed under Davis Wiki.

http://daviswiki.org/Davis_Motorsports

He's open Monday to Fridays. Prices are better than any of the dealerships I've been to. He's very knowledgeable and enjoys chatting about bikes. I know through conversations with him that he used to race Triumphs in the 70's. He may be able to help you with your vintage.

Hope that helps.

Wilson's in Fresno and Munroe Motors in SF have been around a long time, but I don't know if they look after vintage stuff. There are a fair number of vintage Brit bike enthusiast in the bay area, I suspect there's a forum someplace for those folks. The owners at the Triumph dealership in Reno are long time enthusiasts, they might be able to refer you to someone.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

Ya I have good friends who live in Sparks Nv just outside of Reno so I can find out through them about that dealership.

I'm hoping the Modesto or Sacto area shops will be my ticket but pricing, warranty on the rebuild and more all matter as well. This is after all a 1965 650 Bonnie TT Special Engine Unit.

Engine unit will be like almost the last thing of the build which is fine. Gives me plenty of time to research. Thanks everybody for the tips, links and helps.
