I've read through this forum and found a variety of opinions on CycleMart, Cycle Barn, and I-90. I need a repair estimate for insurance after a recent wreck, though I plan to do the work myself once I get the estimate. That means a two-way tow (I have no way to haul it myself) unless I find another way to deal with it. I just want to find a place that might do a good job on an estimate for a reasonable price, and hopefully in the very near future.

Anyway, if anyone has been in a similar situation and could recommend a shop or a way of dealing with it, I'd appreciate it. Same goes if anyone knows of another place closer to Tacoma that would be qualified to give an estimate. I'm only worried about them catching everything I need (higher estimate means more money to fix it) and not being too pissy about me not having them do the work (had that problem with a car once and got a ridiculously low estimate). A place with pickup/delivery service would be ideal, but really, at present, I'm not terribly picky.

Not sure where to take it, although Perry at Cycle Barn is supposed to be a pretty good Triumph mechanic. I did have a thought about getting it there and back, though. It might be cheaper to rent a pickup from U-haul for the day, I think it like 19.99 a day for one...Probably cheaper than having a tow compnay do it for you.....

Toby at CycleMart is a good Triumph mech and he prefers working on Triumphs. However, it's a small shop and they probably wouldn't enjoy doing the estimate if it didn't lead to a job for them.

A good lead might be found here Sound Rider I remember seeing lots of good info about repairs and PNW dealers.

I'll second that about Toby at Cycle Mart. He did lots of work on my bikes and always went the extra step. It would be worth speaking with them beforehand on a big job like that. BTW, do yourself a favor next time you are at Cycle Mart; go down the road a few blocks and have a burger, fries and shake at "Norma's." I sure do miss that area

Cycle Barn have a motorcycle body shop that they call The Restoration Center. I think it has moved around a bit, so you would have to call them to figure out where they are now. I was in a similar situation except that the insurance company totalled my bike. Insurance pays for the estimate, so they don't get all bent out of shape if you take the insurance settlement and do something else. At least that is how it appears to work from the outside.

It's not that The Restoration Center has moved around - it is that everything we had in there with it has been moved to make more room for them! With TRC we used to have a warehouse, and all of that has been moved to the new dealership.

The Restoration Center would be the perfect place to get an estimate - and of course I admit to being biased - but they really have a lot of expertise.

They are located on Beverly Park Road just off of Mukilteo Speedway - call (425) 355-4667 and talk to Dave Pitton for more info
