Temple City Powersports in Southern California has surrendered their Triumph franchise effective Aughust 05.

A brief discussion with their staff suggested Triumph is requiring a dedicated display area to show the product at it's best and not 'dilute' potential buyers with a lot of other products displayed close by.

TC Powersports has Kawasaki, Honda and Seadoo as well, with their display showroll a big open area with everthing kind of in it's own corner.

Being in the auto industry, I see essentially the same thing happening. Manufacturers are scrambling for dedicated display/exposure because the competition is so extreme. Auto dealers are aggressively audited for appearance and display that goes as far as the Service Dept wall colors, high levels of training, general dedicated marque apperance, etc.

I can only think that bike dealers who have showrooms that separate competing product by a 'wall' may be what we will see in the future. It will be interesting to see if this marketing strategy works...

Guess I'm glad I didn't buy my Rocket there. Heck, I used to buy Norton parts in the early 70's at then, Temple City Kawasaki. It doesn't really matter, no close dealers anyway, Mountain View, Cal Moto, where I purchased, Fresno, or the other So. Cal local. Just about smack dab in the middle of all of them.

They are nice enough folk, just don't want to commit to the expense of displaying the marque in a dedicated area.

Understandable, but if anyone has visited So Cal Triumph in Brea, you can see what can be done with a little wall construction and imagination.

They have separated Ducati and Triumph in a manner that make you feel great in either showroom.

its a pity, they are about 15 miles from my house, they still had a few bikes in there, and still will do service, but can not do warranty work (which is the reason I went there in the first place).
walking in that place you wouldn't know they sold Triumphs, there are stuffed in the back behind the Kawas and Hondas, hell even the dirt bikes get more display.

I would love it if Pro-Italia became a Triumph dealer too

Fuzzdevil .... call Pro Italia and tell 'em, I did. They had the Triumph franchise before TC Powersports and let it go because dealing with Triumph was too primitive.

They launched Moto Guzzi because they took a few months to get replacement keys for new bikes delivered without them and recently Aprilia was dropped due to only a few bikes making it to them.

Maybe they would consider the Triumph line with the momentum they are experiencing.
