Triumph dealer experiences in Los Angeles
Hi list
Can anyone recommend or advise on the best service they have received in Los Angeles from a Triumph dealer.
I am about to move to LA from the UK and want to purchase an R, I have been to LA triumph and all I got was, it is going to cost this much and no real customer service, no extras ie, huggers, alarm, nothing, you get what you pay for unlike the UK where you can have a deal and get a few things chucked in.
Any enlightening pointers would be gratefully received.

I've never been to LA Triumph - too far away, I guess. I've been to the dealers in Lomita and Brea.
The dealer in Lomita is the infamous Matt Capri (land speed records at Bonneville on Triumphs, factory funding, etc). That said, he's more of an old school twin guy. If you're into Bonnies, Scramblers, and Thruxtons, that's the dealer you want. He is also the only US dealer for the new Norton and also sells Royal Enfield.
The dealer in Brea sells Ducati and Victory motorcycles as well. This dealer is more "in tune" with the modern motorcycle and would be my service choice for the Street Triple. So far, I haven't needed any dealer service. I can handle oil changes.
As far as getting deals is concerned, I haven't seen any of the local dealers that like to wheel and deal on accessories and stuff. When I bought my Triple, I called around and most dealers just started with MSRP, added setup, tax and license and quoted that price. Pretty disappointing, really. I ended up buying the bike from the Lomita dealer for US$1K less than anyone else quoted.

New. I would hesitate to call it a discount. They have an orange 09 R listed on their website. They will honor whatever is on their website. However, they also have a brand new 07 Speed Triple listed at about the same price. When I was in their store a couple weeks ago, they had changed it to "Make Offer." They can't seem to get rid of it. Hell of a deal, but I can't swing it.

I got my Street Triple from SoCal motorcycles in Brea. They have a great service dept. They also have excellent customer service. Their showroom is pretty cool with lots of clothes and extras. They also have demo bikes, so you can ride before you buy. They didn't really give me a great deal, but it was OK. Basically MSRP with no setup fees.

I just re-read your original post, and realized you may have been talking about OTD Cyclesport when you said "LA Triumph". Your description of their "no deal" attitude sounds about right and I could see how that may feel off-putting to you. Then again, they had the best price in town when I was shopping, and I took their no-haggling approach as by-product of them having the lowest price and not feeling the need do the salesperson-mambo. Personally, I'd rather have someone give me bottom line up front than spend my time wheeling and dealing with someone who's profit or commission is a moving target based on what kind of customer they get.
Anyway, best of luck and I hope that wherever you end up buying you're happy in the end.
Cheers.

Regardless of where you buy it, I highly recommend you take it to Mickey Cohen Motorsports in Placentia for service. You won't be disappointed.

I just picked up my 09 street triple from OTD cyclesports. I walked in, took it for a test ride, came back into dealer and the salesman asked me what I thought. I was completely sold on getting one, so I just told him I was going to look around at the other triumph dealers and get some quotes. I had already checked at two other dealers prior to going to OTD, and just wanted see if he would try and rope me in.
He simply said, "That's fine, we'll be here when you come back." I kinda just laughed and said, "You're THAT confident I won't find a better deal?" Then he explained that they don't charge for a lot of the extra bs (freight and setup fees). They also offer free pickup and drop off of your bike if it needs service, and a 15% discount on parts ordered trough them. That was enough for me, and now I'm buzzing around on a brand new bike.
At first it seemed like the cocky salesman attitude that we all know and hate, but in the end they do have a pretty good deal, and he was a nice guy. I haven't dealt any further with them yet, but so far so good.

Did you goto the OTD in Inglewood?
sorry to drag this up, but I was in the other day and I'm seriously caught on buying a Striple R. They had them and made a pretty good offer, but I wanted to do the math and shop around. From my understanding they don't haggle the price and they don't throw in goodies.
my real question is does anyone know any other dealers in the LA area that I could price shop around for and any that I should stay away from?
