Some dealers profiteering ??
Has anyone else noticed in the UK that a small number of main Triumph dealers are selling parts that were on Triumph's clearance sale last year - http://www.triumph.co.uk/images/ecar...rs_revised.pdf
at vastly inflated prices on ebay ?
I know times are hard but I do think it is a bit off that they have bought up these stocks and not passed on the savings to us. A lot of people are not even aware of the sale list.
When I contacted the dealer to queery the the prices he was a bit sheepish at first and then said it was probably some of their own stock that they had left over ! My own local dealer holds very little stock, and never 10 of the same item !!!

I agree! Isn't it the point of business to make a profit?

Perhaps I did-not make my point very well.I have no problem in them making a profit, but for example Triumph (ie the factory) reduced a cowl for a Speedmaster to £11.25 yet the dealer put the part on ebay for over £100.
The sale prices were the retail prices to us,not the trade prices. So if you are happy for the dealer to not pass the full saving to you, then will we have to agree to differ.

That's the beauty of free market economics.
You can buy it somewhere else. If nobody buys it at the higher price then the dealer will be forced to reduce his price.

The local fair market value of the chainsaw is $200. After the hurricane, it is $1000. Should the local retailer sell his stock on hand at $200 or $1000? Profiteering is not a criminal;it's a free market in action. After only a few hundred years and well behind the "civilized nations" how did the USA become so dominate?

The beauty of a free market is that you can always choose to buy it at a lower price too.

That's price gouging, and it is illegal. Although the State Attorney General doesn't always have enough guts to do anything about it.
After Rita Hurricane Rita hit Texas a few years ago there was short supply of gas to the South East . A couple of gas stations who still had gasoline decided to jack their prices up to over $5.00 a gallon. Price gouging the public. Those station were fined accordingly.
What the OP posted is just free market behavior.
