Factory and dealer incentives?

Hello,

I’m looking at a 2009 model on clearance with a good sale price. I see Triumph is offering $1,000 worth of accessories or clothing for that model but when I mentioned that to the dealer, he says that offer/money is already going towards discounting the bike and that if I wanted the accessories/clothing then the price would go up. He also said it wouldn’t really be a full $1,000 worth of stuff anyway because Triumph only pays them a portion of that amount.

It seems if Triumph is enticing you into the shop with a specific dollar amount, then that’s exactly what you should get. Plus it should be a separate deal from however much the dealer wants to mark down the bike. Does Triumph really just pay the dealer the incentive amount and then they can use it however they want?

Any opinions or experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks.

Triumph advertised a $1000 towards gear, not a penny less. Give the dealer an offer and let him step up to the plate or you walk. Give it time, they aren't selling a lot of bikes, they will come around.

This dealer is jerking you around.

I bought a leftover 08 Sprint last February. The dealer quoted me his lowest price, then took the $650 Triumph rebate off of that. I did all of this through email, by the way, since this dealer was 75 miles away, and it was nasty cold last February. On top of that, he delivered the bike to me by enclosed trailer.

If I were you, I'd let my fingers do the talking with other Triumph dealers within a reasonable distance from you. You can always get the bike serviced at the closer dealer. Triumph pays for your two year warranty work, if needed, at any Triumph dealership.

On promos 1/2 of the amount comes from the dealer and 1/2 from TMA.

You now know how any future dealings will be at this dealer (service, Parts, accessories, etc.)

You've been warned

Dishonest Dealer

Do NOT do business with that dealer. I just bought a new '08 Sprint w/ABS from a dealer 1800 miles from my home (Indian/Triumph of Fargo) - they sold me the bike for $9500 and gave me the full $1000 worth of accessories on top of it. Honest and professional guys to do business with - just got the bike delivered to my door Monday and box full of accessories Tuesday - perfect showroom condition w/3 miles on it.

It's normal what that dealer did. He simply offered you his best price including the incentive offer. Just shop around and see if you can do better or not. Triumph always does it this way with the "free" accessories offer. It's either $1000 in free accessories or $600 in cash off the bike. With the huge mark up in the accessories prices I think the cash off is a better deal.
