Exclamation Second Wind BMW/Triumph in NH

Hey guys, just a service report on a recent valve adjustment I had done on my bonnie at Second Wind BMW/Triumph in Merrimack, NH.

I checked out a few places and decided to give SW my business...but I'm afraid they didn't do much to keep it. They quoted me at 1.5 to 2 hours at $82/hr (depending on how many shims needed to be switched), which I thought was reasonable. I checked the clearances and only 3 of the exhausts were tight. No biggie, pull one camshaft and bob's your uncle, right?

I dropped the bike off at 8:00 a.m. and they called me 10 minutes before the service department closed at 5:00 p.m. to say that the threads for the oil feed bolt were "damaged" and that it was "probably like that from the factory." Ohh boy. Keep in mind that this is the first valve adjustment the bike's had...and I can't really see the threads being stripped from the factory. Anyone else run into that problem before?

All in all, they charged me $255 for doing the valve job (pulling all 4 exhaust shims, no intake) and installing a TIME-SERT for the stripped threads. That's not a horrible price, considering what some dealerships charge, but I didn't come away feeling like I had been dealt with honestly...and trust is exactly what I look for in a dealership.

I'm sure the Triumph factory would have something to say about that accusation.
