Winchester Motosports: Any Opinions?
Looking at buying my first Triumph and this is the dealership I've been working with. Anyone have opinions? There's been no haggling apparently available over price--list price plus MSRP on accessories. Sticker on everything including labor cost to have my accessories placed on the bike (Bonneville)
Am I getting ripped? OTD $9197.97 on 09 Bonneville ($7699 List) with sissy bar, fly screen and sportster shocks (for my 28in inseam), BS nickel and dime dealer fees, and $150 for an hour labor.
I feel like I'm getting ripped, lol. Now, tell me how bad.

Most every dealer manages to get a grand tacked on to the MSRP for dealer prep, frieght, doc fees, the kids braces, and whatever else they can get you to pay. Figure you can bump him down to MSRP plus $500 (mine went for that offer right off...), you're talking $8199 - are those extras your wanting worth another $1000 (I have not priced 'em out, so I don't know)? I do believe also, most dealers offer a 10 or 20 percent discount on any accessories bought at the time of the sale, so think about that also.
If that $9197 includes any kind of tax, title, and license fees, the price really ain't that bad, I think.

Wyo,
The price does not include tax and title. I agree I should get a discount for the accessories. The sissy bar is for my 10 year old son to not slide off the back. The shocks are also nec. since I've got no legs, hahah, I can touch without the shocks, but not enough to be anywhere near comfortable.
I also am feeling kind of touchy about getting charged labor to have the stuff installed. I feel like if I bought all this from you at the time of sale it should be free installation, especially since I'm charged MSRP on everything.
We'll see. There's plenty of Triumph dealers within reasonable distances. I'll commence to haggling after visiting those as well.

When I was looking to purchase a Street triple R, I called and talked to the same dealer(early March). On the bike only, price was discounted, but w/ prep & setup it added up to msrp, sales person made a big deal that I wouldn't pay tax on set up(saving me $30.00). I called all dealers near me(N. Central WV) and the most straight forward, no bs was Triumph of Windber. A good friend's brother-in law had purchased a bike from them earlier, he reccomended this dealer. Give them a call, he will work with you on acessories, price will be msrp(no setup), smaller dealer, believes in his product, has a good mechanic and service dept., I felt I was treated fairly and reccomend them to anyone wanting to buy a Triumph. Hope this helps you out.

It's not like I've been to every dealer around, but most that I have heard of, give at least 10% the day you pick it up. Heck, if nothing else, go to www.madss.com - they are 10% off everyday.

I agree completely - they already charge enough for those "extras".

If you have not made the dealer a counter offer, give it a go. I asked for a split on the extra fees (setup, freight, etc) and my salesman immediately went for it and I wish I had asked for more. The thing is, while we love these bikes (Triumphs in general) and we think they are the greatest thing, they really don't sell a lot of 'em, overall. I bet if you make a counter offer, stand firm and the salesman knows you'll walk, the deal will get better.
My dealer told me just recently, there are only about 300 Bonnevilles sold in the US every year. Simple math on that is 6 per state!!! That really is not a whole lot.... I know you're looking at a Striple, but I bet the numbers are similar. He wants to sell it as much as you want to buy it, he just has more experience in the selling dept than you have in the buying dept.

I contemplated buying from them but went with Colonial Cycle SPorts (power sports maybe?) on the south side of Richmond instead. I can only say good things about my experience there.

Thanks everyone. I did a demo ride today to make sure I wasn't getting in over my head with a bigger bike and I have to say I really need the bonnie. OMG, and how! It was such a smooth sweet ride. Uh, the 2x4 for a seat has to go though. Any suggestions there?
And thanks for the recommendation Marmi. I called Windber and immediately it was several hundred cheaper just on a 5 minutes over the phone quote with all the freight, tax, tags, doc, 10% off accessories and free install: the whole nine yards for $8900.
I'll be pitting the two against one another Monday.
Soon, I'll officially be one of you guys and I can't wait!!
