Question Triumph Glossary?

Hi,

I'm new to this Triumph thing, and keep reading words like Girlie and Steamer, when referring to some Triumph bikes. Could you please explain me what is the meaning of this?

Regards,
Mane

I expect you only see those two terms in connection with the Tiger, generally. The steamers were the carburreted models, and the girlies are the 955 engine after the switchover to EFI. Dunno what, if anything, the 1050 version is nicknamed.

Don't ask me why those names, either...I've only owned a Tiger for 7 years myself and hadn't encountered them until just a couple years ago, and even then with conflicting explanations for their origin. IMO it's only a few of the self-styled cognoscenti wanting to be thought of as old-timers who even still use them.

Thank you Diego

Thanks!

Now that I know what those word means I can also presume of cognoscenti.

The rumor has it that the nickname for the new Tiger 1050 is roadies.
