Dear Mr. Bloor #1

Dear John,
I really like your motorbikes generally, but I have thought of a variant I would like to buy.

I've ridden the new Bonneville, and think it's great. The 17" wheels make it steer and stop, but look like they where borrowed from an SR500 (nicely polished though).

And so, I want to buy a Thruxton with 17" laced rims, they will look right; and work properly. 17" rims mean I will be able to put better rubber on it; many motards take a 140 rear tyre but sticky. With a wider rear rim you can use a 160, then you can get near on anything. (ME33, MEZ2's suck).

Can you put some forks on it too? You know; ones that have suspension in them...
Seriously, you could pinch them from the Street Triple R, or if you wanted something a little traditional the cartridge design from a CBR600 F2 or something?
Which would suggest a twin disc front end? Guess what, the Thunderbird Sport had 17" wheels and twin discs.

Have you ever actually ridden a Thruxton? The odd 'floppy' steering I don't get. It feels like a Harley Sportster gone wrong. Get over it. Proper offset, rake, trail... Geometry works. TRIPLE CLAMPS?

I think it needs a bit of help at the back too. Maybe remote reservoir shocks like on an XJR, anything has to be better than stock, but I don't expect miracles. It still needs to 'look' right.

While you're at it; how about making the rear peg brackets detachable and neat, like on the Street Triple? I know this means a slight change to an established design, but I estimate it will only cost $27.46 for each bike (LOL). Have a look at a Bonnie wit a two-into-one on it; ugly.

Like most of us, the Thruxton really needs to lose twenty pounds; I know you can do it.

Any chance of making the engine spin a little quicker? Lighter rods? Pistons? Crank/alternator?
Maybe the cams could get the once over? Obviously the EFI can be programmed to cope. Another 5hp will do, and more torque would be nice.

And put the clip-ons back.

A parts bin special???

Please make my motorbike for me, I promise I will send you 500 quid extra...

I am terribly sorry, but all new Triumphs will be cruiser knock off aimed at the US market. Don't the words "too big to fail" mean anything to you?

Your obedient servant,

John Bloor (ret).
