Can anyone tell me where the RR is located on a 2006 Tiger. I broke down in a remote location and need to remove&replace on the road. It seems more likely that it is the R/R and not the Stator. A picture would be perfect.
Any special tools required? I am trying to avoid renting a Van/Trailer to get it back home.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

On the Tiger 955i the R/R is on the left hand side (gear lever side) of the bike, behind the left-hand side cover left of the battery.

Are you sure your main fuse is okay? That is located under a small holder built into the battery holder -- not in the fuse box!

In this picture, the position of the main fuse is being indicated. Note the top of RR is also in view:

PS: No special tools needed to replace an OEM Rectifier. Don't fit another OEM SCR RR though, go for the later (and far more reliable) Shindengen Mosfet Shunt FH012AA regulator/rectifier (available via ebay or via Triumph/Yamaha/Kawasaki. The link cable with the correct connectors is now available from Triumph as a spare and is cheap in the US.

You cannot make that assumption without doing the appropriate diagnostics - easy to do, follow the reference thread Deano provided.

I changed mine a few weeks ago. No special tools required, but the fixings are in the most awkward to reach place possible!!

What happened to the OP? I guess he must still be stuck in the bush/desert or wherever, waiting for D'Ecosse or someone to come and rescue him..!

I finally got the Tiger home and into the Shop. It turns out the Stator went bad. Has anyone had a stator replaced & is Ricks the proper source?
The Tiger is an '06 bought in june '07. 38000 miles.

The stator in my 2002 went belly up @ 30,000 miles. I replaced both the stator and R/R with new units from Ricks Electrosport. They both installed very easily and the bike was back up and running beautifully.

For best results, directly solder the stator's three leads to the R/R's three "input" leads, then directly connect the two "output" leads to the battery. Be sure to include and inline Maxi fuse on the positive lead to the battery. This set-up bypasses a lot of extra wiring, increasing your available electrical capacity. My bike steadily puts out 13.6 volts. I liked it so much I put another R/R in my 2006 Tiger as well (sold the '02).

The R/R from Ricks is a MOSFET solid state unit, which runs cooler and more efficiently than the stock unit. The wiring set up will also free up two hot leads and two ground leads to power any other goodies you want. I installed a datel voltmeter in the old heated switch location to monitor the output. My old heated grip switch? I dumped it and installed the grip kit from a Tiger XC, along with the XC's bars (Rox Risers). This setup BLOWS AWAY the stock 955 equipment, and is a simple install. I have a heated vest running in the picture, thus the 13.3 volts.
