Clutch Wear

I have been on a group tour. I had the 955 on the centre stand with the engine running.

In nuetral the rear wheel was spinning a bit. One of the guys on the tour noticed and suggested this is a sign of clutch wear.

Is this correct? Does your Tigers wheel spin when on the centre stand?

Nothing to worry about John. All my bikes have done it including my latest ride. Put your hand on it while its spinning and it should stop. Then slowly start rotating. Handy for lubing the chain.

Exactly, if the wheel is spinning in neutral and can be stopped it's perfectly normal, mine does it and has done from new, but only when the bike is cold. When it's hot it won't do it.

The guy who commented may have been sucked in by someone and bought a new clutch because of it, and is now an ex-spurt.

If it doesn't slip, or do any other strangeness, you'll be fine.

Yes, it's a shame it doesn't do it when warm as that's a nice way to spray the chain, best done with a warm chain. I'm always a bit scared of putting it in gear on the centre stand in case it makes a bolt for freedom!
