I just finished the install of the new Hagon fork springs. The job went off without a hitch but the old fork oil on the '03 was NASTY! dirty brownish-red muck. If your bike is 2 years old or more please think about getting that stuff out of there.
Another suprise was that the stock fork springs were a progressive wind. Go figure...
I installed the springs and the SAE 15wt oil as many others have done. Can't wait for the test ride tomorrow.

03tiger - I just did the same 3 or 4 weeks back but the oil I took out of mine looked clean and similar to the new oil I replaced it with. Have you done a very high mileage? I'm at 9000 miles and that was the original oil I took out. :???:

I noticed that as well but progressive or not, they cannot hold a candle to the Hagon springs i fitted.
My old fork oil was pretty grim too!, It had gone a sludgy brown colour, that was with 10,000 on the clock.
Hope you enjoy the difference.

OK guys you got my curiosity going here. Where do you get the Hagon fork springs and do you replace the fork oil with the stock amount and weight?
The suspension on my Tiger is so much better than my V-Star it is hard to believe it could get much better?

Offroad,
When you order a set of Hagon springs, they come with sufficient oil to do the job. The oil they supply is 15 w oil, as opposed to the 10w that is standard.
You can check out the springs here.....
Hagon Progressive Springs
or here if you are in the U.S.
Hagon Shocks (U.S.)
P.S.....It can get better...and it did!

The price quoted for the springs does not include the oil, well not in the UK anyway.
You need to get two bottles of oil as one is not sufficient for both forks but the whole lot came to about £67, about $100 I guess but well worth it.
You certainly will notice a difference after you fit them.
Then you can save up for the rear unit and make the tiger really rock.

$126 US for the springs not including the oil. They work too! the front end actually gives me feedback now. My biggest gripe with the front was a lack of feedback.
They do, however, reduce dirt road and rough road capabilities. Every ride I do starts and ends with a section of dirt. This I can live with, but I also ride on a lot of your typical rough, undermaintained Colorado crap roads. The bike used to just swallow these bumbs and potholes, now it can get quite upset. Only time will tell.

I just fitted the Hagons but it's pouring down, so have not tested yet.
My springs came with 2l of 10wt oil, so if the front end is still too soft I'll try 15wt.
The old oil from my 2002 bike with 5,000 miles on it was very clean, and a nice red colour. I removed about 650ml from each leg and a 130mm air gap (springs removed, leg compressed) used about the same to refill.
I did notice that the level sinks gradually, and its worth pumping the leg a few times to ensure all the air has vented from the fork leg.
My old springs were not progressive.
