Mobile 1 Racing 4T or not
I'm about to do my first oil change on my 06 Tiger and I'm going to use Triumph oil as it's still under warranty.

I probably will stay with the Mobile since it has been in it since new, but I was wondering what other brands you reccomend?

I'm using Redline Full Synthetic 10w-40 motorcycle oil. I have used Redline products for years in my other personal vehicles with excellent results. Granted, pretty expensive stuff (about $11.00 a quart), but it is fully capable or running 5-6k between oil changes so that helps the value a little.

My local (Tampa, Florida) AutoZone has Mobil 1 Racing 4T for under $9 per quart.

Any synthetic is capable of running to 10K. There still seems to be more urban myths about oil (particularly "motorcycle" oil) than Bigfoot. Some synthetics are marginally better than others, but test data continues to show that synthetics maintain viscosity longer than dino oils. Use what you like. but the biggest factor is a quality filter. There are definitely performance differences between filter manufacturers.

The biggest mistake I see when it comes to synthetic oils is people who buy some of the hydro-cracked dino oils labeled as "synthetics". Granted Hydro cracked dino is very very good oil but it is still dino. The primary advantage of full synthetic oil is it's ability to resist burning off in the high temp areas of the engine ( piston ring area ). This means better protection and lower oil consumption especially as the oil ages.

That's not Mobil One Racing 4Tsynthetic motorcycle oil. You can buy that car oil for that price pretty much anywhere.

Regular Mobil 1, originally a full synthetic oil, has reverted to a highly refined petroleum with a "synthetic" label. This is not the best oil for our Tigers. Any true full synthetic oil ( like 4T) is going to cost at least 7-8 dollars a quart.

Iv'e just done a 12k service on my 05 955 and used Silkolene Comp 4. This is fully synthetic and a 10/40 SAE. It also says its Electrosynthetic, whatever that is. The report I have read and what I have been told its very very good. I should be as it was £ 28 for 4 Litres.

I also changed the fork oil to 15 W. Did not change the standard springs as others have. It has stfffened up the front and reduced the fork dive under braking. It also seems to be more stable through the bends on eneven or bumpy surfaces.

Thats my Fourpenneth worth

I agree. I didn't get this point across. I've just concluded that all of the synthetics are much better than they "need" to be. People can do as they choose, but 2k - 3k mileage intervals are just unnecessary.
