Tires for the track?
On my 2002 955i I've got "standard" Radial tubeless tires (Pirelli MT90 back and Michelin Anakee front). I'd like to get my knee down on the track now and contemplating more sporty rubber. Have anyone done that conversion? Any trouble with misreading speedo or other?

I consider myself a quick(ish) rider, but the thought of getting my knee down on a corner on a tall bike like the tiger, almost makes me follow through !

I must be a big girls blouse on the corners, but maximum respect to all those that manage to get their knee down.

Tigers move quick on the track
Tigers are fun on track days and often people wonder how fast we move around. Getting your knee down is more of a "put your knee out" than "oops I leant down that much...". Try sitting on a chair, put your butt and knee out real far and you'll see you don't have to tip the chair much to get floor contact (wear a crash helmet for safety-hah,hah). Also consider that you have the thick kneepad just below the knee as well.
As far as the tyres go I found out that sticky race tires are hard to find for the front wheel size of 110/80-19''. But Michelin Pilot Road (not#2) works and would maybe be something...

I did Brands Hatch last year on my 955i Tiger-didn't get my knee down just my boots and foot rests- see my pictures...(tyres were standard Metzeler Tourance)-I got past down the straight by plenty of big jap bikes, but got some back round the bends

My mates got a gsx750 and when I follow him round the twisties he sits right off the seat, knee stuck right out leaning right over.

The thing is, I'm on a bike as tall as the Tiger sitting bolt upright knees in, and I'm getting round the same corners at exactly the same speed

Do you think he's suffering from MotoGPitis ?? i.e. - he thinks he's Rossi, but actually he's drossy !

many choices
I did two track days on Battlewings. They work great once warmed up. I didn't get my knee down. I'm not saying it's impossible, but tough. I have dragged hard parts with my butt hanging off the seat. Knee didn't feel anywhere close to pavement, but then again, maybe it was just a millimeter off, I don't know.
I've also heard kind words of Conti Road Attacks, supposedly the king of pure road tires for our bikes. Search, read, decide...

I was on a small track last sunday, I haven't put my knee out or do any other
silly body moves, but I've beaten more than a half of sport bikes, quite nice feeling :]

Tires - just normal Anakees, front and rear. Rear is new, front about 2 years old.

Footpeg endings and Thunderbike protectors scratched and tires still working, so don't worry

Back to the original question, the size of the front rim limits the choices somewhat. I think you can get Michelin Pilot Roads that will fit, they should do well. I don't think the tire selection will limit your lean angle but will give you better traction margin when leaned over under braking or acceleration.

Limited choice of rubber
Thank you all for information and interest in this subject. I'm off next week to the track. Enclosing attachment; picture from a 2007 track day.
Conti RoadAttack as well as many other doesn't come in the the front wheel size of 110/80-19''. So far I've just found Michelin PilotRoad (not PilotRoad2)and Metzeler Roadtec Z6 to go up front. Maybe I'll settle for PilotRoad.
Wish I had a Daytona 675 SE just for track days....

Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart
Yipee! Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart is an option for the front size of of 110/80-19''. I read a positive test about them. Anyone tried? And Lisciasty - I see that you also did away with the undercarriage mudguard - clever...
