Head gasket blowing bubbles of oil !!
My 07 plate 955i tiger, (last of the 06 models) has only done 1900 miles and has started bubbling oil out of the front right hand corner of the head gasket, Triumph dealer fitted a new gasket but this did not work. Dealer now scratching his head.

I'd have thought that Triumph would have had the 955i engine well sorted by now.

Anyone got any ideas.

Cheers.

Looks like you got a one-off. Head could be slightly warped or it wasn't torqued down correctly. I'd put it back to the dealer for a further check of the head and if that's ok then try another new gasket.

The mechanic should have also used new O-rings on the cylinder dowels before installing the new gasket, this will ensure proper alignment of the head gasket.

Just a thought, are you certain it's a head gasket, and not the rubber valve cover gasket?

If it is the head gasket, John is perhaps correct. Has it ever been overheated?

Tigeer blowing bubbles
Thanks for the reply guys.

I will mention the rubber thingy to the Dealer tomorrow. I rang them today but the guy i need to speak was not in. They did say though that they had sent the head to an engineering firm who said it was perfectly flat. So I don't know where I am at the moment.

It has never been over heated, I'm a fine weather biker who rides for pleasure only. It was carefully run in and is not thrashed.

Will update when I get an answer.

Cheers.

Update
Triumph dealer is trying a second head gasket. If that does not work then the bike is going back to the factory where they are better equipped to fix the problem.

Sorted
Righty ho then.

seems that the head was not torqued down enough.

service chap said that the setting had been updated but this dealer was unaware of it.

all seems o.k. now.

Cheers.

Hey Tigerrider,

i have just booked my 05 Tiger into my dealer for, what seems to be, exactly the same issue.

Oil misting out of the front RHS as your sat on the bike.

They are replacing the Gasket,Bolts,Oil and Filtet etc and believe it will do the trick. Worryingly, mine is 6 months out of Warrenty and i have only had it 12 months.

Bought it when it had 811 miles on it, now has just short 5k - i bought this bike because of its reliability - am now thinking about chucking it in for a 1050. Will see how it goes. Dealer have been brilliant so far.
