Unhappy Digital Clock 955i

Hi has anyone came across problems with the Digital clock on a 04 Tiger955i.
My one for no reason has stopped working.
Has anyone changed one and if so how much did Triumph charge for it.

I found the OEM clock too small to read, so I bought a cheapo digital clock with a large display from JayCar ($8) and mounted it on the dashboard using 3M Scotch reclosable fastener tape (stronger than Velcro). If it ever got stolen it's cheap enough not to worry.

Now I can read the time while riding easily, and the OEM clock is just OK to read at night.

Check fuse #3 in your fusebox under the seat, mine blew recently due to water shorting the unused heated grip connector behind the instrument panel. Lesson learned: don't spray the hose under there while distracted talking to your 5 year old.
That fuse also powers your trip meter (not the odometer, but the trip meter memory, it will reset whenever you turn the key off), the heated grips, clock and auxiliary socket.
Worth a shot, check it out. SHould be a 10A red fuse.

Glad to help, I had to dig through three pages of wiring schematics to figure it out. I hadn't noticed the clock since I don't really use it, but I did notice the trip meter resetting ( I use that more to keep track of fuel remaining, I always refuel at 220 miles).

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, in fact new to biking having only passed my full test in Feb 2008.
I've bought a '54 plate Tiger 955i and am having problem with the trip meter. I can set it when I start a run but when I turn off the ignition, the trip meter resets and I lose the reading.
I've been looking at this post concenring the fuse number 3 and wondered if the problem could be anywhere else as my digital clock still works fine.

Thanks

There are a few connections behind the fairing that could be swapped possibly. I noticed one or two that could be confused last time I had it off, had to pay special attention to the bend and reach of the connectors to determine where they'd come from. Could be swapped and the trip meter is getting power from a lighting circuit, which would lose power when the bikes turned off.

Digger,

Thanks for that suggestion, it gives me something else to look at this weekend. I have a few mates who can do auto electrics.
Thanks again,

Trip meter woes

Hi,

The last time I was on here I was going to try a few of the suggestions made to fix my trip meter well nothing seems to work. Every clock on the instrument panel works, the trip meter works but resets to zero whenever I turn the ignition off, is it supposed to retain the reading until I physically reset or is it supposed to reset with the ignition? Will the trip be on its own fuse. Any more help is appreciated.

Hey Navigator
According to my Haynes manual the clock shares a fuse with the accessories socket and speedo. It would be worth replacing that fuse anyway, you can never tell with 'leccy.
On the other question, the trip shouldn't reset to zero when you switch off the ignition, just when you press the reset button.
