Windscreen Pocket?
Ok, I fitted my '07 Tiger this week with the "Touring" screen and it seems like the wind turbulance behind it is worse not better than the stock screen. Has anyone else encountered this?
Part of my problem is that I am 6'5" which means that I really cant get behind any screen. But, if I just spent $150 to get more wind buffeting I am not going to be happy.
I seem to have a bet less on my chest, but far more on my helmet.
That said, is has been super windy in Dallas of late.
Thoughts & experiences?

I bought a Triumph touring screen on Ebay, mounted it on the bike, took a 25 mile test ride and removed it. Helmet buffeting that I don't have with the stock screen and just a noisy as the stocker. I'm 5'10". The search continues.
I have cut the stock screen down as far as possible but way too much snow precludes any testing at the moment.

Wow, you have cut that down. There is a sweet spot that we both need to find. I not jazzed by the negative change.

Seems like the 1050 is the same as the girlies. I predict, unfortunately, that your search will be a long one.
Try taking the screen off altogether. I've ended up with the "sports" screen on my 2002. Yes, there's more wind hits you, but it's smooth wind and it's still comfortable up to 90mph cruising speeds. Lower is better IMO.

That's my next step after trying the cut down screen, although it is close as it sits.
I did the cut down with the thought that it would be similar to no screen, the thing is, there's a lot of "nose" out front. Somewhat like the old "cafe style" headlight fairings.
I have a Puig touring screen coming (I hope, I ordered it in late November). I had one of their touring screens on my '02 VFR and it worked well. Fingers firmly crossed, it will have similar results on the Tiger.
Puig part# 4359F , dark smoke.

Good luck, indeed. There is no common solution for a majority of riders. The screen is too far from the rider and height differences from physical seated height differences to height differences from different lean angles in ones riding posture all affect what will work effectively.
I would suggest corresponding with calsci.com and see if their screen can be returned for a refund if it doesn't work for you. They have a +7, +9, and I believe they will make a +10.5. The plus numbers are how much taller the screen is over the stock screen. Your touring screen is about 3/4 inch taller than the stock screen, I believe.
There are other tall screens out there, but the cost can be prohibitive for trying very many if one can't get a full refund.
As mentioned, many have cut the stock screen shorter to get rid of buffeting. The best place to read of the many screens and problems is probably the tiger1050.com forum--do a search on screens, and you should find many pages of reading material.
Good Luck,

Ok, so I spent the day switching back and forth between the stock screen and the touring screen to get a back to back comparison.
Results. The touring screen does block more wind but with my height the top of the air pocket hits me high on the helmet. This causes a bit more buffeting.
The stock screen the top of the air pocket hits me around my chin. Thus the design of the helmet is critical. With my original HJC flip front it was horrible. With a new Nolan it was pretty good, until I flipped the visor up.
Its been windy here the last few days and I think I am now back to using the touring screen as I can do more with either the visor up or the flip front up while riding.
I do article work, and may see if I can get the manufactures to send me various brands and types for an article. Then we can get some comprehensive data on which one works best.

I'm 6'-4" and after some trial and error I think I've cracked it.First I got rid of my BMW system 4 helmet and got an Arai Astro R. Flip front helmets are noisy. Then the stock screen was replaced with a Cee Bailey 2"x2" wider and higher.(I had tried a Vario screen with the 3 position spoiler but that was much worse than stock). For extended high speed motorway sessions I use a Touratech spoiler.
