Question Since the fuel tank is off????

Had to remove fuel tank to replace the broken fuel line coupling. Cleaned the air filter. Will replace fuel filter.

The bike is a 2001 with 16,000 miles on it

Any other routine service items I should do at this time? Do you have to remove the airbox to get at the spark plugs?

In the air box there is an airflow restrictor that appears to be removable, anyone taken this out? Did it make any difference in performance or mileage?

Thanks
Tim

That is why the tank is off, the fuel fitting broke.

Thanks for the link to the metal fittings, been trying to find these all day.

If the valve clearances haven't been checked it's on "opportunity"...

Yes. But it's not hard.

Go to BMW for the fuel filter it's a lot cheaper. It's exactly the same "Mahle KL145" filter.

There are several threads on this but don't ask me to find them. I'm just happy with a K&N air filter and Irridium plugs. Along with a 19T front sprocket, it all seems to make good performance AND good economy.
