Popping on the overrun

I've recently bought a 2004 (cast wheel) Tiger and it pops on the overrun. The dealer said this was normal but I've never heard of it.

Is he right - if not, what is the likely solution?

It would seem from other posts that this is normal and nothing to worry about, I quite like the noise my 06 model makes when on the overrun.

Don't know if your bike has a secondary air injection (SAI). On the 1050's there is a solenoid controlled air injection coming off the air box which ties into the top of the engine. Disabling the SAI will eliminate the poping on decel. Removes the air source that allows the excess gas to ignite in the pipe.
There are several ways to disable it, anywhere from simply unplugging the power to the solenoid to completely removing all the clap trap and making custom covers to make it look like it was never there. On my '05 1050 Speed Triple, unplugging the power from the solenoid wiould cause an engine error light. Installing a resistor across the power feed tricked the ECU into thinking the solenoid was still there, no more error light. 25 ohms I think but measure the solenoid to be sure.

It's a nice way to warn pedestrians that a tiger is on the prowl!

Come on! Get real as they say. Why would you want to eradicate some of the character of the bike. Snap, crackle and pop........it's GRRRReat! I love it. And the bonus is...it does do any harm.
