Fork oil question ?

I have a 2006 Tiger, Caspian Blue.

1, What is the correct amount of fork oil required to replace the old fork oil?

2, And at what level from the top of the forks?

I would be grateful if anyone can help, please.

Hi tiger acording to my trusty manuel they take 720cc. The oil level is 107 mm measured from the top of the tube with the fork spring removed and the leg fully compressed. Hope this helps

Thumbs up

MAX21. Thank you for the info.

1, Did your measurements come from a Haynes Manual ? or a Genuine Triumph manual ?

2, Since placing my original request on this site. I spoke to Triumph UK, they said 682cc and 119mm air gap 2002 on.

I'm happy to do the job itself, but I'm not sure which measurement to use now.

Cheers for your help.

They changed the forks in 04 when they went to cast wheels, I don't know if levels or capacity changed at that time, I've got the late 01 (02) model

Hi it came from the latest version of the haynes it is supposed to cover all injection 955i models to date but the fork oil information changes in 2002 so i suppose it depends on which fork your bike has got. The information in my manual is the same as the information you have got from triumph so its just a case of finding out which fork your bike has.

Careful!!!

Good point there about 05-06 having different forks!
I have an 06 and I just did a fork mod with stiffer springs and racetech emulators. The numbers provided above are for 04 and older, the oil quantity is less now and the airgap bigger. If I recall right, 142 mm from top, with forks fully compressed, springs out. I have a manual at home (Triumph manual), that's what I went by.

For anyone that might be interested.
I find my 2002 Tiger rides much better when I've mixed 1litre of 15W with 1/2 litre of 10W (makes approx 13.66W) and filled the legs up to 110mm from the top.

Thank you all for your advice, including "Manuel". I stick with Triumph's specs.
