Question flasher problem

Noticed the dash indicator light flashing faster than usual. Front rt flasher working OK, but rear not working.
Left front and rear flashers working fine.
Renewed rear rt bulb - no improvement.
Do these symptoms suggest a dodgy relay? If so, which one is it?I have the dual headlight relays fitted.

Had the same problem the other week, again. Problem was down to the sprung contact at the bottom of the holder. I used a small nail to ease it up a little, head end first, as you cant get a finger in
Surprised to see you managed to get the lense off without breaking the tag(or is that on another thread) Not the best way of securing it, but superglue comes in handy

I've had a similar problem with bikes and cars and everytime it was a dodgy bulb contact rather than the flasher unit.

Thumbs up Connectors

Spot on Ian!
Off with the rack etc and lo and behold- the connector had pulled apart where the flasher wire joined the loom.
If only every problem was so quick and easy to fix!
Cheers

This thread is an excellent example of how to trace a fault.

What's the simplest explanation and the simplest to fix the globe in this case, if you get a result good your done. If you don't what's the next simplest thing to do, check the seat of the globe in the socket, no result, then check the connections. You know it's not a fuse or a flasher because the front light is working yes?

How many times have you gone about it back to front because you "thought" you knew what the problem was.

This thread is also a great example of how great this forum is. Many heads make deciphering problems simple.

A methodical approach (almost*) always pays off especially with electrical problems. I often adopt a kind of "binary chop" approach - look at the circuit and find the point approximately half way through it and see whether power is getting there. If so, the fault lies after the half-way point so repeat the half-way tactic in that portion - if not, do the same with the portion before the half-way point. Repeat till solved. In complex circuits this can save a lot of time.

Like Pirsig said, occasionally a problem is so difficult you need the full scientific method, starting by writing down what you know, identifying your hypotheses then devising tests for each. Great fun except when you're by the roadside at night in pouring rain.

*Those intermittent ones can of course drive normally sane people demented.
