I'm thinking seriously of purchasing the thunderbike muffler for the 955 tiger. Thunderbike are making claims of a reasonable hp and torque increase, according to their workshop this is acheived with the 10121 tune. Has any body got any feed back with regards to their claims and any improvements or losses in fuel economy regarding this. What an awesome machine. :???:

Hi Kiwi,
A few points to note re cans.
I looked at the Thunderbike muffler, but it is not legal here in Oz.
The Triumph sports can is actually very good. It sounds great and give a few extra ponies, but likewise is not roadlegal here in Oz.
I ended up with and Australian made Staintune can that I think is really great. It is road legal, sounds great and gives a useful power increase. I can't give you exact figures, as I fitted a Powercommander at the same time. I now have 108 - 110HP at the rear wheel.

Re fuel economy. I have found that the standard can and standard tune is the most economical. In my experience, any change uses more fuel. My 02 Tiger got 22Km/L from the crate. I now get about 18KM/L - but don't care. It is the price I choose to pay for extra HONK!

I went from an out of the box setup to a Blue Flame can and race tune and my fuel economy hasn't changed much at all. I am still getting between 47 and 50 on my commute.

I should also say that I rang Thunderbike and they sounded like good guys. More importantly, they are enthuiasists and should give you good advice. I would have considered their can, but it is unfortunately not legal over here.

I also think that if you fit a can, you should plan to Dyno the bike and alter the tune if need be. Tuneboy or a powercommander helps here if you want to make the investment.

I purchased the Thunderbike O/R can. It is a bit to loud for most urban travel. I ended up making a custom fitted baffle for the 2" exhaust port. I was able to get the best of both worlds... Added power and a personnal sound from the tiger.

Very soon, hopefully tomorrow, I shall be the proud owner of a Thunderbikes intermediate pipe for my 900. If all goes well it should see a nice power and torque boost throughout the rev range - more than a stock 955 allegedly
