I just hope they stay like it.
It will depend on whether your replacement rotors came from the 'bad batch' that Triumph has laying around. Mine were replaced under warranty 2k miles ago (@ 8100 miles)and I hope they are from the 'good batch'. Time will tell.

There are so many variables. Accuracy of the wheel machining, fitting of the discs etc.

To be or not to be?

I am away to get my Tiger's front disks changed (under warranty) tomorrow!

The Dealer is 200 miles away.

Then I am heading on to an annual rally, some 80 miles North of the Dealers.

By the time I get home again I should know whether or not my brake problem has been solved or not!

I will keep you posted. Cheers John.

Brakes are/were better but???

Well, 200 miles to the service agent, taken straight in on arrival, disks changed, wheel balance checked, refitted to bike and bike tested, rode out 1 hour later!

Brakes were gentled in and gradually increased braking pressure over the next 600 miles and everything seemed OK.

Almost home and really caning it into one of our local tight corners, only to be confronted by about 4 stray sheep in the middle of my space!

Lucky nothing coming the other way!

Set the bike up and braked "really" hard then dropped another line around the sheep and into the clear. (close, oh so very close)

The brakes performed well but I can now feel a little shimmer in the front again as I stopped to park up in my garage at home????

It could have been me still shaking from the fright with the sheep.

Oh well, I guess the mystery might still be on then. We shall see! Cheers John.

Since having my discs replaced, I get a slight shimmer/minor vibration as the speed drops through about 20 mph. It's more visual (screen movement) than feel. Seeing as I'd never usually be using the front brakes at such low speed, I'm being a bit picky. However, other than that, the front brakes are considerably better than before. More efficient and no grabbing.

My front brakes seem to be performing really well now.

There is a slight binding when the front wheel is turned by hand.

On the road they are miles better than before the disk replacement! Cheers John.

ANother Thought....

I am in the tool business, we machine the parts and assemble power tools.

My front brakes on my '04 Speedmaster and my '06 Tiger both displayed the pulsing you guys described. I checked the rotors for warping (or runout) and it was negligible. Then I checked them for hardness at work and found variations around the perimeter. They were incorrectly hardened during the heat treat process after machining and had "soft spots". This will cause the pulsing under braking. Triumph had some bad rotors from a supplier named Sun-Star (I think I have that right) and have had to change quite a few out.

SO if your dealer says they aren't warped or are within runout specs, ask about the heat treat issue. AN informed customer is a lot harder to say no to.

Dealer says mine were definitely outside the runout specs but you raise a valid point. Cheers John.

+2 - A Tiger owning mate and I both had our discs replaces at the same time. We were both told the originals were outside MOT limits

Are the brakes "grabby", or is it just that when you pull the front brake there is so much suspension travel to take up, that they feel as if they're not doing anything so you apply more pressure without realising it, then when the suspension travel is taken up the brakes grap because of the pressure ??

Is it bad riding style or bad brakes ??

I'm asking that as a question as I don't know the answer.

I must admit I use my rear brake in most urban situations and "normal" riding, it's only when I'm "making progress" that I'm forced to use the front.
