Footrest/Mainstand Bolts

I know this has been well covered, but for anybody who is unaware.

The footrest/mainstand securing bolts work loose very easily. Despite tightening and the addition of nyloc nuts, where possible. The left hand (gear change) side on my bike, has loosened again within 2000 miles. Infact the upper of the three fasteners, fell out completely.

In addition, be careful when tightening the upper bolt on the left side. It's a smaller size than the others and the thread in the frame is blind. If you strip the thread, or snap the bolt off, you've got the hassle of drilling out the frame etc.

I don't know what the simple soloution to this problem may be, locktite or similar. However, IMO Triumph didn't get their design parameters quite right.

The small top bolt thread stripped in the frame on my 05 tiger. After a few letters to Triumph they eventually covered it under warranty.

The dealer had to helicoil the thread.

Triumph do not seem to appreciate its a design fault, (or they are ignoring it).

Nylock nots on my 06 tiger seem to be OK so far.

Some ordinary nuts on the back of the bolts (which stick through plenty) has been good enough to stop mine coming undone again.
