Question Triumphs own heated grips problem

Just because the bike knows I am going on my annual big (for me) trip next week, the right-hand heated grip stopped working this morning.
I've taken the fairing off and behind the headlights is the connector to it (brown and black wires). There is 11 volts with the grips switched on on the right grip and 12+ volts at the left grip connector. I'm guessing that itself isn't the reason for total lack of heat on the throttle side.
My problem is that the wires go directly into the throttle tube without any further connector, which mucks up any attempt at checking continuity at that end.

What do I do next, chaps?

So what I did next was look on Bikebandit.com, and on there it says the right hand heated grip is $40/ £20.
At that price I don't see the point in wasting time trying to prise the grip apart to attempt a re-wire...
Having said that, I can't wait to ring a dealer tomorrow - £20 seems WAY too cheap for a Triumph bit.

you could try the resistance across the windings. Should be quite low

Same happened to me.

Pull back the rubber to expose the wire heating element, and you will probably find a break in the wire.

I used some 5 amp fuse wire and soldered it to each end of the heating element at the break.

Worked a treat for me, hope it works for you.

After a left side drop my grip stopped heating. I slid the grip off enough to find a break. Soldier On. I mean solder on.

Blimey! Must be cold in Lancashire in September. Sorry, I know that doesn't help but I'm surprised you'd notice this time of year.

Ah, BlackTiger, you noticed. My excuse could be that I knew I was going to Scotland, so I was testing them. Or, it was cold and foggy at 5.30am going to work and I thought, "what the hell, I paid for 'em".

Anyways, a new grip was £22, and after fitting it, I thought I would try taking the old one apart, and just like Graeme did, soldered a bit in and now it's as good as new.

Oh, the joy of having another spare thing to keep in the garage...

dodgey grip

My 06 tiger had a heated grip that lasted 700 km from new. It was soldered under warranty and lasted another 700 km. It was then replaced with a new one. It seems that the way that the wires enter the grip from the outer end is prone to damaging the wiring. I'd be looking there first.
