Headlights?

Has anybody ever adjusted their headlights? The book says "remove cockpit".. ok and how do you do that? I ended up taking off the faring and the whole headlamp assembly, adjusting it by feel and putting it back on.. little help but now I've got to do it again and this just feels wrong. You should be able to adjust the lamps while on the bike.. also curious.. there are 2 lamps in each unit.. one is a 55/60w H4 the other is some little bulb.. didn't look like much.
anyway is the little one the main lights and the other the bright? And has anyone ever replaced the running lights with a different bulb that improved it?

hi, you didn`t say what year ( model ) of Tiger you have ??

as for the bulbs, i and others have fitted the Xenon 50% or 60% brighter bulbs and liked the results. the same wattage, just more light !!

KK

ps the little bulb is a side light ( parking light ) a complete waste of time but if its fitted it must work for the MOT test ( UK )

clumsy adjustment, agreed!

You must have an 06 or older. I've put some work into adjusting my 06 headlights. It takes time and effort but is worth it. Taking the fairing off is a pain, but there is no other way. I didn't put it back on until happy with the adjustment. No, I didn't go for a ride without a fairing, I just rolled it out of the garage and lit up the street and neighbors' fence, pulled back in, re-adjusted, out again. After about tenth try I was happy. And I added Hella FF50's, bolted onto Thunderbike crashbars, lots of extra light, no excessive drain on battery.

good luck!

Yes, definitely a PITA job. I take it you've got both lights working? The two adjusters on each light, tend to affect each other, so it's a lot of trial and error.
I found it helpful to cover each light in turn, otherwise the light overlaps and makes it more difficult.
When adjusted, the lights are pretty good, even with standard bulbs.

what a pain!

Triumph should be ashamed.. yes I have an 06 and you have to take the fairing off to adjust the lights. And even then it still hard to reach the adjustment screws. I live in the backwoods of east texas.. no garage and no neighbors and while thats nice it means working in the dark cause how else can you test lights and 3 or 4 trips down the driveway I guess.. yes thats far enough.. its 1/2 mile to the street... and killing one to test the other is probably a good idea.. I adjusted both the first time.. but it was during the day.. made some adjustments then waited till dark to go up the road abit.. couldn't tell the difference.. thanks for all the help.. I just kept hoping there was an easier way.

yes i have and i agree with all the others that said whoever designed this set-up should be shot! that is after you take out the 4 plastic screws then the 4 big allens and the 6 smaller ones and remove the plastic thingy, then you have the 3 allens that hold the bezel in place now you can change the h4 lamps to a PIAA that actually puts out light and adjust the beam put it back in place see if the beam is in the right place, if not then take it out again and adjust some more...cuss alot...replace .... adjust....replace...adjust. then put it all back together go out for a ride that night and find out you were adjusting the left-right when you wanted to adjust the up-down.

loads of fun!

lights

Ok, now that I got that answer albet one I didn't like.. tell me how I can pay 400 bucks for some fog lights at Tourteck and not have sucker tatooed on my forehead? Two or three of the various sites I have been to all have these 400 dollar lights? Whats up with that? You can buy great fog lights and running lights for jeeps for 20 bucks apiece.. maybe a bit big but for the price I'd find a way to use em. Are that that high just because they are small? I had regular fog lights mounted on my Goldwing.. right on the front forks. I never thought it looked bad.. and they followed the direction of the turn real well..
