As Davie says, you can do almost all of it yourself if you are handy with a wrench. Like you i prefer to know that it has been done properly!
I have got the Triumph shim removal tool, so i can do that as well (It does build in a delay because you have to get the shims after you have stripped it all down and measured them all etc), but the one thing that is really hard to do yourself on these efi Tigers is balancing the throttle bodies. This really has to be done on the computer analyser at the shop. I tried to do it with a good set of vacuum gauges but they are just not up to it. So i have to have the dealer set them up for me.
But it saves me a shed load of money by doing it myself! Fuel filter is a pain because it sits on top of the pump inside the fuel tank. But do not be tempted to skip this. I could not believe the crud that came out of my filter at 12,000 miles !
All in all the parts come to about £100 GBP saving me about £350 GBP
Cheers
