Speedo just stopped working!
Can I crash in onto this thread and tell you all that we were riding along minding our own business and suddenly the speedo drops to zero and stops working, odo and all!
About five miles and maybe five minutes later it gives a couple of flickers and bingo, back on she comes never to off again by the time we got home about 45 minutes later.????? What gives, it acted the way a thermal cut-out relay behaves, do Tigers have any of these??
I do not like mysterious unexplained electrical activities, this sort of thing is not confidence building at all!
Ambient temperatures were low, snow along both sides of the road but not on it, traveling along at 5,000rpm at about 70-80mph, so I turned on the hand warmers, paid for them may as well try them.
Could not really tell the difference on position 2 (bottom end of switch down) so clicked to the top position, it was after this that I noticed the speedo was not working!
Tried out all the other electrics to see if they were on, all seemed to be OK!
Turned off the heated grips and continued on, just using the rev counter to ride by.
About five minutes later the speedo gives a couple of flicks and then away it goes again, seemingly, no more problems!
So what the hell is that all about? Any ideas or suggestions?
We have just completed a 200mile round trip in very cold and very wet conditions but the weather was perfect at the time the speedo played it's little trick.
I am one of those strange people who just love riding in rain and believe me, yesterday, it "rained" and "rained" and "rained"!
The bike has about 5,500 miles on it now and I was just thinking (as we rode along) what a bloody fantastic bike it is, suits our needs perfectly!
Next thing this little trick pops up! ****!! (dam, oh, I can say that one but not this **** one!) Ha ha how quaint!(lol)
Guy's ??? Any suggestions?? "Please"! Cheers John
PS: The bike is a blue 2007 Triumph Tiger (06) 955i, with 5554 miles on the odo!
