So I have decided to flush and replace the coolant on my 06 Tiger.

However, I have never taken the tank off. I have read some other posts on this subject. It seems pretty straight forward, except for the fuel line stuff. Would anyone care to clarify the steps involved? Some pics would be super helpful.

?? Flush and replace on an '06? Have you done that many miles already? Or has it got a problem? If there is no problem why do you need to flush? Or is that your way of entertaining yourself on warm summer days?

The screen and fairing need to come off first, then the tank is easily removeable. The fuel lines are quick release gadgets, which require care in removing and replacing lest you booger the dainty little rubber o-rings. Look carefully and you'll see how they require a pinch of a tab to release the clip. This tab must be pressed again to insert them back into place.

Best get a manual if you're really not sure.

Well, I noticed that my overflow reservoir was completely empty and I managed to top it off with the wrong type of coolant. So, I thought it would be a good time to learn how to do this. I got the thing off and the system all flushed. However, I am still unclear as to where the bolts are to bleed the system. I am going to purchase a manual this week. This site, has been invaluable to me. Thanks for all the great information.

This is a step by step way of changing the coolant.....

It goes something like this.....

Unless you have got baby sized hands, remove the fuel tank.

Undo the radiator filler cap
Place a tray or something uder the bike to catch the fluid. Undo and remove the bleed hole bolt, which is by the side of the radiator cap itself. Then undo and remove the drain plug on the left hand side of the engine (as you sit in the bike) and let the fluid drain out .

Then slacken off the bottom radiator hose on the left hand side. Place a container under the hose then pull off the hose and let the fluid drain from the radiator.

To refill. Replace the radiator hose and the drain plug (check the washer is ok, if not replace it)

Fill the system with the correct mixture of coolant, via the filler cap neck. DO IT SLOWLY.... this will mimimise the amount of air that gets in. fill it up until you can see the fluid down the bleed hole.

Either pull the bike of the stand and give it a good old shake to settle the fluid, or give all radiator hoses a good squeeze to clear any trapped air.

Top up the coolant again so you can see it in the bleed hole. Then replace the bleed hole bolt and tighten to torque. Now fill the coolant reservoir up to the MAX mark

Replace the radiator pressure cap and start the engine. Let it idle for about 2 or three minutes. Then blip the throttle up to about 5,000 rpm three or four times. Give all the hoses another good squeeze, then stop the engine.

When it has cooled, remove the radiator pressure cap and chck the level is still up to the filler neck. Check the coolant reservoir. Top up if necessary.

Eh voila!.........job done
