when cold bike runs on 2 cylinders and stalls when let idle, if you try to accelerate it backfires and misses etc takes anywhere up to 10 kilometres before it will run correctly. Has been back to the shop and they changed spark plugs seemed a little better but still not right. Bike did this with original pipe and with the triumph sports pipe and tune on it. If anything it is worse with the performance pipe on it. Clutch drags at the lights unless you pull clutch all the way into the bars. Doesn't seem correct dealer says its fine. Front forks are set on hardest setting and brake line rubs on back of headlamp when braking. Gearbox notchy and difficult to change at times. Dash rattles at 2500 to 3500rpm. :???: Any ideas as to these problems would be greatly appreciated. Bike only has 2500klms on it. Hope to have it sort or it will be for sale very soon.

Who's the dealer?

If it's the one in Nerang, speak to Welshrob, the mod on the Speed Triple Forum. He's the Ratpack leader and should be able to get the dealer to do the right thing.

Sounds like you need to get them to do the right thing.

1) Adjust the clutch via the book.
2) Check the plugs and the coil connections - no water pooling in the plug sockets?
3) check the battery terminals are tight and clean
4) check the wiring harness for the ignition
5) re-install the aftermarket pipe tune.

Don't let them tell you it's all an un-documented feature!

Mick

OH -- my 07 runs fine when cold -- yours definately needs some attention (all the things mentioned above may sort that out)

brakeline rubbing sounds like a simple routing issue -- again, the couple I've seen here in the sates do not rub like that

clutch cable on mine was out of adjustment, as well (a little) -- five minutes adjust the cable (and then re-adjusting after adjusting the lever) had it working per spec

the shifting on mine also improved once I got the clutch play right -- it continues to improve during break-in (how'd I get 1500 mile so quickly, I wonder {grin})

while your beef are legit, thay all sound like easy-to-address issues -- mos

Hi mate, sorry to bother you but just been reading about your bike problem and think i've got exactly the same with my speed triple.
Have you found any solution yet?
I'm almost hitting my head off the wall with frustration now!
Cheers,
Davie.

If I had a new bike acting that way, the dealer would be fixing it, or taking it back.

My bike's a 2005 registered 955i Speed Triple. Only bought it 2 month ago in a private deal. Was going fine when I bought it but has recently developed this fault.

No fix as yet, They put new plugs in it and it really didnt make a huge difference. Planning on taking it to a different dealer. Will let you know the out come. Am told that they have done all of the above listed fixes. I rode it the other weekend to the local RAT ride hoping someone had the same problem, but alias no... Have been told that both the speed triple and the ST suffer the same problem, different plugs apparently was the fix. I must admit that the long ride did make it better so am wondering if it is excess fuel getting dumped into the oil... Will let you know the outcome.

i have a older model 955 speed triple and it doesnt or hasnt ever had this problem i think i would start with putting new plugs in it before getting to conserned.. Only problem i ever had with it was a main power relay ****ting itself and causing it not to start or run...Would wind over but not start...

Thanks anyway mate. My bike just behaves like it this when I initially start it from cold. After 5 mins or so however, it runs perfect and pulls like a train with no hesitation whatsoever. I've just tried replacing coils and cleaning my recently fitted plugs this morning, but no difference at all.
Will let you know if I find a solution,
Cheers,
Davie.
