Up is definitely hotter on mine ..... although on some days I swear that the low setting is hotter. To the extent that I have to turn it off to prevent cooking my hand.

I have seen these switches on boats, hence I think they originated from a marine background.

As a consequence they will be reasonably water resistant, which is probably why Triumph have used them for this application.

When fitted on boats there is light.

I have not actually pulled mine out, but I suspect there is a light built into the switch, because why have the clear panel on it.

For the light to work there would have to be a least 1 unused terminal on the switch. This would indicate that Triumph have not bothered to wire in the light.

Is there an unused terminal on the switch?

Regards

Chris

No Chris, just live in and then 2 outputs. I've fitted a separate LED but admit I'm confused - when I use a multimeter it shows that the central terminal is live and switches either the upper or lower contact. I originally wanted 2 LEDs to show whether it was on high or low - however, whichever of the switched terminals I connect to, the LED is illuminated whether I'm on high or low heat setting. I suspect there's enough backfed voltage to light it up.

Just curious - how did you wire in an LED to light up this little clear panel? Is there actually a place for a bulb in there?

I didn't - I just put it in the panel next to the switch. There's already one there for the alarm so it doesn't look too out of place.
