Took my Tiger out for some exercise tonight. Unfortunately on meeting up with others the alarm/immobilizer failed to switch off rendering myself stranded and wrecking all good plans made. Called RAC and whilst waiting tried again (20 Min's later). Somehow all systems then functioned.

Whilst pulling off RAC arrive, stop and chat and the main advice given related to perhaps poor transmitter battery and also comments made regarding retail park electrical interference (from the store electrical/neon signage)??

Headed straight back to base in fear of the same thing happening again once shut down. On getting home checked output of spare transmitter which did seem to give a much higher output. Now employed as Nr1

Guess the most logical answer is that the transmitters battery needs replacing.

However, has anything like this happened to anyone out there and was the reason anything different to battery life. Not sure what to say about retail park electrical interference??

My local BMW dealership seems to dislike Triumph alarms - mine regularly refuses to disarm when I'm up there. First time it happened I rang the head honcho at my Triumph dealer. He recommended holding the plipper against the r/o/s tailpiece as this is the closest spot and then pressing and holding the arm/disarm button until the alarm disarms. Works everytime, including when the battery in the plipper has been on the way out.

Cheers for reply. Yep tried this but no go - until after the 20 min wait!!!!! Hopefully spare will resolve problem - tried and worked on multiple attempts, but a bizarre experience!

I'm not sure of the specifics of "Retail Park Electrical Interference", but I could take you to two places I know of in the Birmingham area where a Datatool remote will not work unless you hold it against the bike and, even then it can take some effort.

One is a Sainsbury's superstore, and the other is a mainline railway station (electric trains, if that makes any difference).

In addition to that, my car which has a Clifford alarm fitted works fine at the Sainsbury's but also takes some effort to disarm at the railway station.

There definitely are sources of interference out there which confuse alarm remotes :hammer:

This is the best part of visiting Metropolis in London.
If you ever go, get a coffee from next door and enjoy the sight of our brethren failing to disarm their immobilisers - due, I should think - to MI5 just across the road. :-D

There's another place near Waitrose on the Stratford Road where my LR Discovery remote never worked.
