Right. I want to take my handguards off and replace them (or just leave them off for summer) I got the brake side off in seconds, but the clutch side is really bugging me. I took the nut off the bottom ok but the bolt just won't screw or be tapped out. I just sits there being spun around as i spin the allen key. Has anyone got a non-violent solution (or a violent one)

Coincidentally, I just had clutch-side handguard off last night. Don't know whether the '00 is exactly like my '02, but if it is, there should be nothing (but friction where it goes through the clutch lever) which prevents it from coming out.

I would recommend taking a small piece of wood and pressing up on the bottom of the bolt while unscrewing it with the allen key. If that doesn't work, I would put the nut back on (only a couple of turns) and tap it upwards with a plastic-faced hammer, then try unscrewing it out.

It should come out! Good luck.
