Hi all,

Hope you can help me with these two questions?

Have had the fuel connectors replaced by a recall, and was going to remove the tank to check the plugs and route some audio/power cables when I noticed -

1) the lower fuel connector (red) is connected to the same side fuel rail and is kinked quite badly & the top connector (silver) is connected to the far side rail. The manual shows the flow the other way round. Is this the right way round or does it not matter?

2) I seem to have hoses connected each side of the tank, running front to back, which are not mentioned in the manual, and because they run between the frame and are wedged in with the loom etc, make it impossible to remove tank with them in place. Do I need to drain the tank and remove these hoses for tank removal, and if so, what clips/fasteners can anyone recommend.

Sorry if this has been covered, but I have searched through messages.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Andy

Andy,
This is how they should look

A lot of the mech's just cut the hoses which can make them a bit short and can cause a kink in the pipe.

I fitted a quick release connector to the pipe you're refering to which goes round the frame.

Thanks for the info, but could you tell me if the top connector goes to the far side of the rail or the near side?

Andy

Sorry I misread your post, here you go.

Looking from the rear of the bike, white to right, red to left. Hope this helps.

Thanks Davie, the mechanic or last owner must have swopped the connectors over.

BTW - I take it you don't have the hoses running front to back on your tank?

I don't suppose it really matters which colour goes where as long as they are routed to the proper connectors.
The only other hoses that are connected to the tank AFAICR are the overflow and breather hoses which are routed down passed the left hand side of the engine and come out just in front of the centre stand.

Ah! I found a caution box in the manual which says 'ensure you do not kink or trap the FUEL TRANSFER HOSES when installing the tank'.

So the two hoses running front to back are the transfer hoses, but they seem to be wedged in firmly.

I'll have another go at getting the tank off tonight.

Many thanks

these hoses should not need to be removed to get the tank off.

They just lay over the top of the frame rail.

Check that no aftermarket wires or pipes are routed through by the previous owner

It doesn't matter which end of the fuel rail you connect the feed and return hoses to since the pressure regulator and filter are in the tank. It would matter if the pressure regulator were on the raiol as is common to some other FI systems but then the two connectors would be different to preclude a SNAFU.
