Hi FifeTiger,
Note that grounding the yellow wire doesn't stop the alarm from self-arming, it just stops the nudge sensor from automatically activating with the rest of the system. So after turning the ignition off, the bike will still auto-arm after the delay period (the immobiliser is active, and the alarm will still be triggered if the iginition circuit is energised, or the tamper-switch is... well... tampered with!), it's just that it won't squeak or trigger if you move or nudge the bike, unless you manually press the oval remote-control button to enable the nudge sensor.
If the Datatool alarm is as fitted by Triumph (as mine was) there were a bunch of female bullet connectors under the rear cowling area which were all earthed - presumably because the brown, white and yellow wires were all equipped with male bullet connectors so that any desired option configuration can be achieved with ease, just by plugging the correct male bullet connector into any of the earthed female connectors. I earthed the white one for the benefit of my neighbours
HTH!
Tim.
