Good evening gentlemen,
Way back in 93 (& a dam sight younger), I managed a visit to pommy land where I picked up a lovely new Tiger Hinkley way from a very obliging fella (Gary McDonnald if my memory serves correct?).
To cut a long story short, it had a few problems that made it a little unusable in northern & central Australia. After a couple of headbuts with the local dealer in Darwin, it got parked up while I moved on to a lovely piece of Itialian heritage.
A recient move to central QLD has left the guzzi parked up due to a lack of black top, while over the last couple of weekends the Trumpie has been pulled out of the dark, dark depths of storage...
Now to my problems (the first two have been problems from new):
1. On hot days, its like the old girl gets a vapor lock? Let it cool down for a while (one beer is enough - hic!) and its off again for a while... Not much chop trying to traverse central australia - any ideas? (the fuel tanks breather valve has been removed)
2. The carbs always hang - by that I mean that the slides dont seem to drop real fast (painfully on gear changes). On advice from a dealer, a Dyna-jet kit was put in, however it/they solved no problems (other than increasing fuel consumption). Still an issue and any help would be appreciated...
3. Surfing the web has pointed to a few potential problems that may trouble these early 93/94 models- what of the starter sprag issue? Was this a factory recall (yep its been parked up for a very long time)? If it goes will it cause damage? What of the updated sprag that requires case machiening? Can anyone point me in the right direction with this one?
4. Finally - whats the story with rumbly altenators?
Any help with the above will be great and if there is anything else I should be aware of, it will be most appreciated as my local dealer is 10hrs away.
Cheers!
