I have an '05 Tiger with the Triumph, non-stock, Silencer, Part No: A9608018.

On occasion backfiring occurs during deceleration (as opposed to acceleration).
This is caused by a lean condition, right?

I've read a few posts regarding an "O2 bypass" and the "Iridium IX" upgrades to provide for proper (I'm guessing) detonation.

Any help in understanding this subject better would be appreciated.

is it a backfire or merely a popping or burbling on the overrun?

Also check the joints are nice and tight with no leak as this also can lead to the backfire

It is a "popping".

Not sure what you mean by "overrun".

I went through this with mine. I asked everyone. THey call it 'growling'. It's apparently supposed to do that. DOn't worry about it, is my understanding.

If it kind of pops when you let off the throttle then this is normal. If it gives out a proper backfire then something needs tweaked!

Seal the joint between the header pipe and the can with silicone sealant - cured the backfire on my Speed3. Popping was caused by air entering the system just before the can...
