I've used Maxima Chainwax for many years on my TBS and Tiger. Then I did a free can of PJ's (I think, it was white) and now am using Motorex 622 STRONG. I tried some RK oil on the TBS but what a mess.
IMHO your local environment will dictate which lube, if any, is best. For Hawaii once the OE coating is lost from a new chain it will develop rust on the pins and side plates causing the o-rings to wear and break. In short order the chain pins bind with the side plates. Coating the chain often keeps the rust at bay and extends the chains useful life.
The fling from the Chainwax and PJ's was minimal compared to the Motorex. I might be using too much Motorex or our regular 80 F temperatures keeps the lube too viscous as it flings more than the other spray lubes I've used. Just remember that a can of lube is cheaper than a chain and/or sprockets.
Application at 250 mile intervals (one week for me) proves helpful as well. This is where the chain oiler systems would be a benefit. Someday the Tiger may be fitted but I just can't justify it for the TBS. Silly me.
I have yet to use anything other than WD40 and now chain lube to clean my chain. I've found that the carrier for the lube will dissolve the old lube which I wipe off onto a shop rag. Once the road accumulations are reduced I spray on a fresh coating of chain lube. Of course this procedure is carried out just after a good ride so the chain is nice and warm (hot).
