0Volts at the rectifier !!

Assumed my battery charging issue was a fried rectifier. Turns out it's not so there's £90 wasted for a start.

Mechanic says there's no voltage at the rectifier for it to rectify. He's hoping for a loose or broken wire, worse case is alternator is stuffed.

2002 955 model with 43k on it, should it really have died ? What else could it be ?

With a full battery charge, everything is fine. Bike starts and runs fine, all electrics are fine.

There's no tell tale dim/glow of the lights on blipping the throttle though so I assumed a new reg/rectiifier was needed, no joy though. No charge getting as far as the rectifier.

New alternator time I'm afraid. Mine went at 36k miles
G75 from electrexworld is what you want, link below. Cheapest place to get one from. You will have to solder the correct connector on the end, but that's easy. I had to use an oscilloscope to detect 1 winding of the alternator gone on mine. Connecting a voltmeter to the output gave 12.5volts so it wasn't an accurate diagnosing method.

Ended up with one from BBBikeshop, which is odd because it was cheaper than electrexworld but when it was delivered it was an electrexworld alternator !!

Old one fried round two coils.

But now I have a reg/rec unit off the bike which I don't know works or not as the bike shop put my new one on before diagnosing the alternator fault.

An ebay sale ?
