I was amazed at the handbook that comes with the Tiger. 90% of it is warnings/disclaimers/don't do this's/don't do that's etc etc. I've never seen a handbook like it! They must be either extremely scared of litigation, desparate not to honour warantee claims, or both.
That was on the tag on a passenger footpeg I just bought on eBay. I was frightened and realized that if I installed it on the wrong side, the footpeg would fold downward and could throw my passenger into the street and they might get tangled up in the chain causing me to lose control. I asked six Triumph mechanics if they knew their left from right and only two of them got it right! I'm taking my chances and installing it myself!
Are the passenger footpegs the ones in back?
On the gear change rubbers thing. The original rubber seems very soft and wears out too quickly. I found that a Honda XL kick start rubber is the right diameter and twice as long (so needs to be chopped in half so you get two for your money) and they cost about 50p!
I always change the air in the tires (tyres) when I change my oil. A Triumph technician told me the old air gets soft from being compressed as you go over bumps. I'm also considering using distilled water and absinthe as coolant....something about green faeries....
I am so pleased you were able to take on this major task. I was so concerned that I have not been able to sleep for days.
True respect for a mechanic of your stature and ability.
I think I will try adjusting my mirrors next
Whats all that about the air loosing quality from being compressed by bumps. My air comes from my air compresser. But this is machine compreseed not natural. Bill must be talking about organic air
Ian, I hope you did a 'risk assement' BEFORE the work took place????? Were you wearing all the required safety gear???? Triumph franchise............ NO problem!
Roy.
